I think my current computer is starting to show its age. I put together this rig about 4 years ago and it was a budget build even back then. My specs are: Intel C2D E6400 @ 2.13ghz (can't overclock it cuz my motherboard is shitty) super cheap asus motherboard 2gb of shitty ram @ 500mhz Nvidia 9800gt 512mb (replacing a dead 7600gt) OCZ 500W PSU (bought it when i bought the 9800gt, replacing a 350W PSU) seagate 3.5" 250gb 5400rpm hdd 8/16mb memory (can't remember which) Generic mid tower case Windows 7 professional 64bit As you can see, it's a pretty shitty computer. And here's the stuff that i'm looking at: AMD phenom II x6 1090T black edition + MSI 790FX ATX AM3 for 270 bucks: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=58865&vpn=1090T%20%26%20790FX-GD70&manufacture=Bundle%20Deals&promoid=1026 4gb of cheap DDR3 1600mhz ram for 45 bucks: http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=42745&vpn=F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL&manufacture=G.Skill&promoid=1026 I also need a new HDD, preferably 1 or 2TB. So, i would appreciate it if somebody could choose something for me (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?minorcatid=109). Is the PSU going to be able to handle these new parts? I'm trying to avoid upgrading the other parts, for now. Comments are appreciated.
don't get the x6, it's a bad buy because bulldozer is coming very soon and sandy bridge is already out
Either wait for bulldozer or get a mid AM3 cpu and an AM3+ motherboard and upgrade the cpu in the future
k, i guess i'll wait for a bit then. [editline]22nd May 2011[/editline] Anyways, will that psu be able to support all these new parts? Can it be reused?
