• Any opinions on a good VR headset?

I'm looking to get a VR headset sometime this month, but don't know much about the tech behind it. Is there anything I should look out for specifically? Should I just go with Oculus because it's like the main one, or is there a better headset out there? Also, if you have a VR headset, how do you like it?
Are you going to use it for Dev purposes? If so, your choices are pretty much either Oculus Devkit (which has been out longer) or the Vive Devkit (Is this even out for paying developers?) For consumer use? I'd say save the money until the Vive is out by the end of the year or wait a bit longer depending on it's reviews for the Oculus.
If you can wait a bit, I'd go for the HTC Vive (Valve's SteamVR thing)
Alright so Oculus is funding at least a dozen virtual reality games while Steam is funding none. Vive is the better tech, but Oculus is the one with the exclusives, so it's up to you. We'll see if people are able to hack their way into making those Oculus exclusives not so exclusive.

Or was it just "we're funding a bunch of games".
Tons of people are making support for the rift already
just wait and see what goes where
If you really can't wait, your only choices are the Rift DevKit and Google Cardboard / Samsung Gear VR (if you have a phone that fits or are willing to buy one). Of course, the available content is going to be different - you won't be able to play PC games in the smartphone kits. If you just wanna try it out and have a fitting phone, just get Cardboard, it's really cheap after all. If not, wait for better consumer-targeted product, or settle for what's available right now.

If you're a consumer looking to use this for entertainment then wait for the actual consumer versions. It won't only be better for you as a consumer to wait for a fully complete product, but it will be better for developers who might not have to wait in line behind you.

Just Devkits which you can buy. (Which are sub=par compared with the end product. The HTC vive is supposed to be realeased december this year. The occulus rift CV1 Q1 2016. Note that you need a beefy core i5 and at least a Nvidia 970 or AMD 290 for it to run properly.
