I bought a Razor Black Widow mechanical keyboard (Blue switch) maybe about three years ago on sale.
Only within the past few weeks though have I been experiencing problems.
The keyboard will seemingly disconnect randomly, the light that indicates Num Lk is on will still be glowing though so it is receiving power.
When I disconnect it, and plug it into another USB port it will receive no power, and I am forced to restart my PC for my keyboard to be detected again.
Here are a few things I suspect could be causing the problem though.
This problem seems to be happening when watching a video in full screen for awhile. This does not apply to games though.
Any ideas?
The second I read the title I had a good feeling it would be a Razor keyboard as they generally have a thing for randomly disconnecting. For most people it can be different as to why it happens and what exactly causes it. It is an annoying and strange thing to say the least because you can go years without ever experiencing this dreaded problem and then be plagued with it for awhile.
For me it turned out that for years I had my keyboard and mouse plugged into 2 slots next to each other a specific way and after upgrading my pc and putting everything back together I put them the other way around without knowing. This caused the problem to start happening and I would have to unplug them and re plug them back in to fix the problem (No having to restart my machine). Eventually I swapped back over what slots they went in and never had the problem again. It is one of those things of how can this even affect anything yet having them a specific way will cause the issue to happen.
So yeah these keyboards are really odd when it comes to disconnecting issues and finding a fix could be kind of be specific to you from what I have seen posted online and from my own experiences.
Yeah Razor definitely wasn't my first choice, but like I said it was on sale and I didint have a lot of money for luxuries at the time.
I'll try that usb trick though because I did install a new GPU and unplug everything over winter break.
