I tied to host some games for me and my friends, and so I got into port forwarding on my Linksys WRT55AGv2. However, even after going so far as enabling DMZ for my computer, all online port checkers couldn't connect to my ports. So, I resorted to using this program:

STL Port Forward[/URL]
Somehow, after entering the same ports into this little program, my ports would magically open. However, I am wondering what setting is in my router that alone prevents me from opening up my ports without needing to run this program too, so if anyone here has any idea about this or experience with this particular router, I'd appreciate a little advice. My ISP is Rogers (Canadian), if that makes any difference.
The strange thing is, additionally, all my friends who have other ISPs can join my games (e.g. Company of Heroes, GTA IV) without a hitch, but my one friend who also has Rogers cannot ever join my games, even though he can if someone else hosts...and this was before I started port forwarding (my friend's inability to join made me port forward in the first place).
