• Does This Look Okay For A PC Rebuild?
    15 replies, posted
Since my motherboard is failing, and the entire PC is a few years old, I need to rebuild the thing. I came up with the following: Asus M4A77TD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131603 AMD Athlon II X2 245 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103687 4GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104129 I should probably upgrade the video card since I have an older card, 8600GT. Any suggestions for this? I want to spend under $100.
Try to get the Anthlon X3 435 if you can afford it. ATI HD 4850 would be okay for your budget
I'm trying to stick around where I am budget wise. I've never been a fan of ATI. Have they improved?
Yes, the 4850 is a very good card for the money
Let me ask it this way... When I do play video games, I typically play: X-Plane MS Flight Simulator X Steam games, obviously. CoD 4 through CoD Modern Warfare 2 GTA Series The only games that lag when maxed out are FSX and X-Plane, and CoD Modern Warfare 2 (to a point). With the above hardware and running Win7 x64, should I be alright? I feel stupid for asking a question like this, but I haven't followed hardware all that much over the last year or so.
Don't know if the Tri-Core Anthlon X3 is able to run smoothly for GTA IV, but it would be better than the X2, at least. Otherwise no problem, if your resolution is 1680x1050 or below
Yeah I'm at 1680x1050.
How about this... CPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727 Video Card - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130572 [editline]08:16AM[/editline] Or this video card... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121369 Or this one... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102873 [editline]08:19AM[/editline] With this motherboard... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131647 And this RAM... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104129 It all looks compatible to me. Wanted a second opinion there.
X4 955 is better for the buck, it cost less expensive for 0.2 Ghz of difference. Same thing about your RAM, try to get 1333Mhz instead. The motherboard seems to be good though. GTS 450 is the best choice, but you can afford now the GTX 460 768MB/1GB.
I can vouch for the 5770. I ran a single one for a while and had no problems whatsoever. I can also remember running FSX on a 4850 on high minus AA and whatnot. Check THIS out if you want numbers.
The 460 is far better value for money
Good to know. Just throwing my opinion out there.

Unless you can show me 4GB of faster, compatible RAM... I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate, so keep that in mind when making comments regarding my potential purchases. [editline]12:13PM[/editline] Okay so I changed the wish list to the X4 955. Any other suggestions? Keep the evga card I picked?
You will not see really an difference between 1333Mhz and 1600Mhz, that's why I recommended you to take the 1333Mhz ones. They cost less generally
