Well, it's been over five months since my iPod Touches sleep button stopped working, I don't know what to do about it or how to fix it but I figured it could just because it's from 07 and has been through a lot.
But I was just wondering if anyone knew of a way to fix it? If not, oh well.
It sounds broken I wouldn't recomend risking a warrenty take it back to where you bought it.
Don't even think of opening it.
Well it's far to late for the warranty, I've already used my only take back to apple in 08 and I got it off Amazon just before Christmas 07.
My iPhone sleep button went a while without working. If you are really forceful with the button it usually dislodges the dust stuck underneath it.
Just sit and keep pressing it in and out for about 10mins and it should start working again.
I've gotten it to work periodically before but it has always stopped after about a day.

Got it to work thanks Linµx I don't know how long it'll be like this for but at least I know a short term fix.

Now it has stopped working, does anyone have a permanent fix? I might just take off the back and see what the problem is.
Do not open it, warranty or not. It's a pain to get back together.
If you jailbreak, there might be a virtual sleep button app somewhere.
If you've jailbroken/are going to jailbreak, install SBSettings, it's got a power button with a lock (Sleep) option.

Keep being forceful with it. Trust me, you can teach it to be your bitch.
