I really wanted to like PoE, but somehow I just couldn't get into the gameplay, story, and the visuals are just not pleasing.

I think the visuals are extremely impressive. Although like you I couldn't get into it. Of course I expected to read much but there is so much exposition that at some point it felt so bloated and I got bored.
