If Legion launches next year... it's gonna drop even more.

That doesn't make sense.
They also arn't going to be announcing future subscriber numbers as they feel there is better metrics they can show - Bet as soon as it shoots up they will announce it again

iirc not a lot of people are looking forward too it as it doesn't really bring in much of anything new, lore wise.
It's just alternate reality Guldan jumping ship to our reality to re-summon the burning legion.
A lot of the hard core fans don't really like the direction the story has been going since Draenor, since it fucks about with alternate realities and timelines which supposedly breaks the lore, and what they are doing now doesn't really progress the story anywhere.

Basically Legion is Blizz trying to get WoTLK again. But yeah it's obvious since Cata they've been simply trying to find more reasons to keep the game going.
In a few weeks it'll be 12 years old. That is impressive but eventually they need to do something about player discontent with story and lore.

They also have a problem with the new expansions not having enough content to warrant £40 plus sub fee.
Legion and Draenor are both just trying to appeal to the nostalgia to bring people back.
It works to boost subs in the short run but in the end the well is starting to dry up.

They need new players, not old
It's only a matter of time before people realize what they're trying to do

Which is bad when you consider the people who would appreciate the nostalgia are no longer playing the game. Most of them have jobs, lives, and families to tend to now. Appealing to nostalgia is only going to kill WoW in the long run. I think they need a new draw for a new audience.
I find it fucking hilarious their going to stop showing sub numbers because they think theirs more important metrics.
When we all know its because they cant show off anymore and in fact are just losing subs.
I don't get why they don't just take the gw2 route
gw2 has the best business model out of any mmo, it's fucking great.
Shit, I'd get back into WoW if it was free (or pay once). Both work great for me. I miss being a dumb eight year old playing WoW after school instead of doing my homework. Was a great time.

Lowering the barrier of entry (ala the payment method, ideally buy once play free) would go a long way to attracting old and new players. I understand you can pay for game time via gold but not everyone wants to camp at the auction house. Plus there's still the base game and expansions. They should have one or the other (buy game/xpacs, or a subscription fee) not both.
