What are some good skiing/snowboarding resorts in winter seasons? [Sweden/Norway]

Hey, long story short, I want to go to Sweden or Norway (two cuntries I've wanted to visit for a long time as I absolutely love them), this winter I am planning to visit one of them, then another one next year.
I am completely new to all this, I only did snowboarding when I was kid once, and from my memory - it feels just amazing so I want to do it again.
Interested in hearing from those who have actually visited resorts, what did you like or dislike? How is it for beginners? Was it fun?
Ideally I would also love to see Northern Lights at least once in my life time (it was my dream since whenever I discovered northern lights on pictures)
Locally around me there is Kjerringåsen, and then there's Hafjell and Trysil which are the most popular ones for people to travel to when they go on vacation and stuff. I live in south east Norway, south east from Oslo.

I'm not into this kind of stuff so I just mention the most popular ones I know about which are "close" to me
Åre/Branäs
Also I'm 24 and I've never seen northern light yet and I've always lived where I live pretty much
I always went to Sälen as a kid (which has lost its charm and become very commercial lately) but I've found that my personal favourite in Sweden is Vemdalen. Trysil in Norway is very nice although I recall it was rather expensive.
I went to Hemsedal as a beginner in the winter of 2012, had an absolute blast! I'd go there again, great place
