Ive been wondering. 1 of my drives needs a serious defrag. I Have the tools but will it make games run much smoother? Like americas army 3?
I may be wrong, but I imagine it might benefit slightly in terms of loading times. But you wouldn't see an FPS increase in-game.
I have seen improvements in random jitters after doing a defrag.
It won't really boost your FPS, but it could improve how quickly your PC can load things. That quite possibly fix random stuttering while your playing a game.

A defrag won't improve on your FPS really at all. It will make load times a lot shorter depending on how fragmented your drive is.
