I was told here that I could refund the game after Early Access is over, but Steam refuses to give me a single cent. Is there a way?
How did the optimization go? :v:

It might have something to do with DLC, as I believe you can't refund games that you own DLC for. And two updates to the game were distributed as free DLC, almost like they anticipated this.
game has lost half it's player base, so let's charged $60-100 to get new ones!
I managed to get a refund to my steam wallet. Valve didn't let me refund to paypal for some arbitrary reason but whatever, the purchase was over a year ago.

I had 28 hours of playtime too.
It's funny because I just happened to have uninstalled this last night. Namely due to how every time I ran Steam it had an update that was between 600 MB to 3 gigs. And as a result it was using 125 gigs of space, which doesn't seem right.

I can imagine not well.

Did you go through the usual steam refund system?
I wasn't aware you could refund beyond the two week mark. Is it different for buying during Early Access of something?

I don't think it's for every Early Acess game, but it seems to be on a case-by-case basis. Killing Floor 2 is the most prominent example I can think of that allowed refunding of the game when purchased from early access and up until release, even for players who had 20+ hours of playtime. I believe the refund policy also acknowledges that if the player just isn't satisfied with the final released product, it may be reviewed for a valid refund reason.

Got my purchase refunded despite 116 hours played :)
How did the optimization go? :v:
We were supposed to get it optimized? :v:
I ran Ultra at 1440p on the RX Vega and got ~35FPS
I have to turn off ALL shading to get 60FPS-ish. No shadows or ambient occlusion allowed.
No refund for me, bollocks.

That's because their mod support sucks balls and you literally need to have two copies of the game's assets to run mods, whether you're actually planning to use mods or not
You might think this is a pretty critical issue to sort before release but so is the shitty optimization and countless bugs, and yet..

Bought the game june 2nd 2015. The day it went onto Steam Early Access. I too got a refund.
I don't know what to make of them allowing refunds when an Early Access game launches. If it's their system having the timer reset, or if they just allow it because it's an official product now.
why are you all refunding
The game is still an unoptimized buggy unbalanced piece of shit and they killed the birds

One of the biggest piss-offs for me is: Here is the Giganotosaurus; a super hard to beat murderous lizard that is the strongest unmodded thing in the game. When being attacked it has a "Rage" mechanic that increases it's stamina and attack power. You can tame it though, and rule the island*
*It's power and health gets cut by 80% when tamed and it's now only about as strong as an average Rex because fuck you. Also, that rage mechanic will also cause it to turn against you.
steam refund time limits are reset when a game leaves early access.
I still don't know how you guys do it. Steam keeps refusing no matter what I do.
this game was a fucking train wreck from the start
Dude, even the gameplay is fucked. They added a new tech level which comes from your clan beating the bosses and once you get it... you can't lose. Ever. There is no stopping your clan from wiping the floor with everyone on the server.
You get:
- Rifles more powerful than any other in the game that fire explosive rounds and have night vision.
- Auto Turrets that are vastly more powerful than regular turrets, with a -single- downside
- Saddles for creatures which give them explosive laser cannons.
- Armor that automatically highlights enemies, lets you fly, breathe underwater, walk on any slope and punch for absurd amounts of damage
- Protect your base with a forcefield. Transfer your weapons, technology and dinosaurs to other servers, teleport for free across the map, keep animal food fresh forever and duplicate your creatures.
Like.

unrelated but after playing ark for a bit I really hate this trend with survival games that could be otherwise good, but generally devolve after you tech from clubs to ak's in 10 or so hours if you know what you're doing
me ark dev
me like money

Unfortunately the trailers were extremely misleading and gave the impression of it being a serious, well-made dinosaur game...no mention of the stupid character creator, or the nearly non-existant creature behavior, or the giant bright coloured text on everything.
non-existant creature behavior
Had a herd of Triceratops murderfucking a T-Rex in the tundra. Apparently that's not enough to make a woolly rhino stay away and since the hitboxes are fucking huge and stupid, a trike hit the Rhino, which alerted every rhino in a 2 mile radius that 1 of my 8 trikes poked one because it wandered right into the herd of rampaging dinos and TRex, and I proceeded to lose everything including the T-Rex that I intended to tame.

Damn didn't work for me.
Honestly if you buy this game you're an idiot, like, you're enabling them to fuck people over with a shit game and DLC.

What the hell. I have 116 hours and got mine refunded. Makes no sense.
If you try and justify this game, you're delusional.
It's a shame I can't refund because I bought it off kinguin lol
108 minutes played, what an immense waste of money

That's awful. The game provided you with 116 hours worth of entertainment (it obviously was entertaining, else you'd have stopped after a few hours) and yet you refunded it anyway. The game may be objectively shit, but I feel like if you get 116 hours out of something you should pay for it.
