Too bad the average tech handy person can't come up with his own solution.
Y'know, locked down OS, no easily exchangeable battery and all that.
So so far, to fix the iphone 4s you have to disable siri (otherwise random people can have their way with your phone), one of the major features, and you also have to disable random other features in an attempt to stop it from sucking your battery life out
Yet people still cling to iphones as if they were made by god. Why is this?

seems ok to me

what the fuck

15% even during pretty heavy usage is beyond unacceptable.

Or, you know, can turn off the feature that allows Siri to be accessible when locked.
Well you can always go to the nearest Apple store and pay the Apple people for their superior service.
You can't pay people for Android.
That's a good thing, isn't it?
so you can *not-use* the device for 6 and a half hours CONSISTENTLY before the battery runs out!
awesome.
15% every hour?
Damn, that's good compared to my iPod Touch 4G wasting 10% battery in 5 minutes :v:

Really?
I got a 3S, get up at about 8AM, go to bed at about 10PM, battery is about 30%

My friend's iPhone broke. It turned off and kept vibrating. Nothing would stop it. Took it to apple store that day, they gave him a new one no quibble, no fee.
Seems pretty good to me?
Typically carriers make little off the phone itself which is why they can throw you a replacement for free or virtually next to nothing.
15% even during pretty heavy usage is beyond unacceptable.
umm no, 15% per hour on heavy usage means you can go around 6.5 hours of heavy usage at 100%

But it's not a 4S isn't it?
Nope it's not.
And that's the phone being discussed here.
Oh well. My trusty Nokia 3720 Classics battery lasts for several days.
Last winter, I dropped it in a pile of snow outside my house. I couldn't find it for three days, until the lady next door knocked on our door and said she had found it. Still power, with unanswered messages and calls. They should make every phone like this.
Older nokia phones are the most practical I swear, those things can take a beating. I've thrown my phone across a room by accident and bounced it off a wall and it's been completely unscathed.

I meant a 4S
Ah well, the battery life is still better than what I get on my HTC Desire.
i thought all apple devices had notoriously shitty battery lives

Actually the iPhone has been praised for having quite a good battery life.
I'm not impressed with any smartphone's battery life. My HTC legend can last a whole day before I need to charge it, but if I want to stay at a friend's house, it means lugging along a cable with me just so my phone won't run out.
What happened to the good old days where a fully charged battery would give you decent standby time?
Sure, if I'm using it constantly, then I don't expect it to last more than a day, but it shouldn't waste that much when it's just sitting idle in my pocket all day.
Well my e63 can last 6 days without getting recharged.

I have a black 5140i as a spare, I can play catch with it.
It fell more times than I can count, was even kicked a bunch of times and the only thing that's broken is the camera (oddly not because of falling or anything, it just stopped working on its own) and has a cracked frame that holds the rubber keyboard.
People are just holding them wrong.
Pretty sure all current smart phone batteries are shit. You can't just pin it on Apple for this one, even if they do make funny gadgets.

Yes we can, after updating to IOS5 users have decreased battery life compared to 4. Ive been experiencing it, it gets a little better when i turn notifications off, but that defeats the point of ios5 in the first place.

And then my dad takes his 3310 (that was mine first) to the bathroom and the steam fucks it up :smith:
My iPod is basically dead every time I look at it.
Oh hey just checked my iPod, it's dead.
I feel like it just drains faster each time I charge.

That's how lithium-ion batteries work, every charge cycle diminishes the full battery capacity by a little. It shouldn't be THAT noticeable though.

So you have phone with a battery that lasts little more than a day? Seems pretty bad to me. My Android phone lasts at least 2 days on a full battery.
I had that issue too
But then i turned off gps based reminders
