• Direct connect between Windows and Ubuntu

My friend gave me a computer he had lying around for free. It turned out to be a very decent freebie PC that was built last year. Anyways, I loaded Ubuntu on it and updated it and all at my friends house. I now have it at home and I'm using a patch cable to directly connect the Ubuntu computer to my main computer, which is currently running Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate. What I'm trying to do: I'm trying to get the Ubuntu PC online by having it leech off the internet that the Windows 7 PC has. (I've done this before with different PCs) Problem: I can't even get the Ubuntu PC to connect to my main desktop via ethernet. I'm in the Network settings and I've added a Wired Connection to the list. I went and edited that connection and typed in the Mac address of the Wireless connection on my main desktop, but it just doesn't seem to work. I have done the same with the Mac Address on the ethernet. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance! [editline]02:30AM[/editline] Sorry if the OP is a little confusing. I feel like I'm having a hard time wording everything. If you need extra info, just ask. [editline]03:07AM[/editline] Let this thread die! I figured it out:]
why don't you tell us how you figured it out
What the fuck? Reset your settings to all the automatic stuff. Go into Windows, go to wherever your network adapters are, select both of them, right click and click 'Bridge Connections'.
