• Jittering in TF2

This has gotten more severe in the past several weeks, to the point that I now get this problem about every minute. Every now and then I get a quick jitter: either where all the other players skip forward or just freeze for a split second while my controls remain smooth, or where I also experience a quick pause and jolt before returning to normal. This is independent of what server I join, and I'm not sure if this is a lag issue or if there is something hardware side causing this (one of the reasons I'm worried is that my friend's gpu has recently started to crap out and is causing him stuttering in BC2). So far, TF2 is the only game that is giving this sort of trouble on a regular basis. Specs (in case if it matters): Intel i7 2600k @ 3.4Ghz 8Gb Corsair Vengeance Ram @ 1600Mhz EVGA 580 GTX 1.5Gb ASUS Sabertooth P67 Mobo Corsair HX750W PSU I am not overclocking, and my game has multi-core support enabled. I've recently done a defrag, as well as trying to play with my antivirus and firewall disabled. Has anyone else gotten this problem or perhaps has a clue as to how I can fix this? Thanks.
It's your internet connection.
It's your internet connection.
Hmm, well if it is, that's some consolation to me since I can rule out a cause with my pc... I'm running on a 32mbps cable connection behind a router; is there a specific setting(s) that may be causing this?
Are you on wireless ( having the modem go to the wireless router and having a cable go into the wireless cable can sometimes cause some lag spikes. ) Plug it directly in to your ethernet modem, if it already is, get a new modem. Sorry for the long delay, I wasn't able to come to my PC much in the past few days. No wireless involved; I am connected via lan to my router/modem. I have a Cisco DPC3825. I've now had two extra things occurring in TF2: 1. The stuttering is now very frequent (almost every minute) and causes me to skip in place for up to 4 seconds (forward, instantly shoot back, forward, instantly shoot back, repeat). 2. Until i restarted the game, all fire effects appeared as these squares made of small fire particles instead of the usual animation. This scared me the most because I can assume this means something is wrong with my gpu.
Play TF2's singleplayer. Does it still happen?
