I was scanning for virusses when suddenly steam opens and the scanner opened a window saying "Server is not ready, retry abort something else" then a couple of steam windows and a internet explorer window (though i use Firefox) opened..
What could this be?
What virus scanner do you have? By the sound of the steam error it sounds like the virus scanner is trying to cut you off from the internet while it scans. This is actually a precaution so you don't go downloading another virus while looking for others.

This, and the internet explorer pages could be it trying to bring you to FAQ pages and such because on many computers "help"'s default browser is IE.
It happens to me a lot when I get errors with world of warcraft.
Or it could be a virus trying to stop the scan from happening...
Im using Avira Antivir.
