Dynex Wireless Mouse scroll wheel problems

I recently purchased a Dynex Wireless mouse, and i'm having trouble using it in Battlefield 2.
The scroll wheel wont work, it won't select my weapons (and there isn't even an option in the control menu to assign mouse wheel up and down to select weapon)
The middle mouse click works though.

Also, my left and right buttons side buttons wont let me assign anything to it inside Battlefield 2 options menu. The right one works though, the left one doesn't.

EDIT: I tested out the mouse in TF2, the scroll wheel and everything works fine. For some reason though, when I assign a button to the button on the left side of the mouse, it registers as "number 7". I don't understand this.
