Counter Strike is the second most played game on steam right behind TF2 and slightly ahead of CSS. It is important to keep it updated because it still has a frankly massive userbase.

I love Valve as much as the next guy, but Blizzard still update Starcraft much in the same fashion as Valve updates GoldSRC.

Took them long enough.
Good too see that they are still working on it, I hope they fix the steam_appid.txt problem next, the one where everyone gets a "STEAM VALIDATION REJECTED" when they connect to your server unless you make a steam_appid.txt with the correct AppID of the game you're trying to host a server for.
