Okay I see a lot of people bitching about homestuck and I tried to google it but it just took me to a click adventure game or something. Why do people hate it so much? Something about the fanbase being retarded
Is it this? http://dagobah.net/flash/mspaint_adventure_game.swf
What the hell is Homestuck?
In all it's glory
Know Your Meme.com just posted an episode on it. http://knowyourmeme.com/newsfeed/episode
It's not inherently bad. The fandom is shit (for the most part) though and the story can make little to no sense at times.
It's part of the exclusive club of "Things that are more confusing then Metal Gear Solid"
In all it's glory
The why bucket video in cosplay restaurant what
Even though I do read Homestuck and enjoy it, it's a mess. Don't read it.
Homestuck is actually a pretty great story, its the horrible spaghetti-inducing fans that give it a bad rep. If you learn to just let the moronic half of the fanbase do their thing, its pretty engrossing and genuinely entertaining. I'm assuming the OP isn't interested in reading it, but I'd recommend it to those who want a good read. But I'd also recommend that before you do, you try reading his previous story Problem Sleuth. Its much shorter, and I actually like it better in a lot of ways. Its definitely the way to tell if its something you'd want to read anyways. Plus, Problem Sleuth has its share of confusing moments, but Homestuck is on a totally different level of confusing shit.
Homestruck is okay, but it's so fucking complicated and involves A LOT of reading stupid conversations between the characters, and for some reason most of them can't even chat right. I've tried and tried but I can't get into it.
I liked Homestuck and then I realized I was 4000 pages in, the story was only getting even more fucking confusing, and I just got tired of updating myself every singly day. Now I am a well adjusted Prequel reader :v.
Prequel's not bad. my main gripe with it though is how hard he(she?) drills the whole "I'm a fuck up" schtick. I mean I get that that's the point of the story, and I don't want him(her?) to stop making everything go horribly wrong or anything, but I don't need a huge exposition paragraph every other page filled with nothing but sobby self-loathing and shit. I mean its a comedy story, and then you get a huge heavy-handed inner-monologue about how she should just give and and forget making it somehwere in her new life, etc, etc.
First OP makes a thread asking about bronies Then he asks about homestuck Really stepping on the line there, asking about this kind of stuff is asking for a thread full of arguments
Honestly, this thread's not really going towards an argument right now. I mean liking Homestuck is not as controversial as being a brony, really. I mean, if you act like the people in that video above, that's a different story of course, but every fanbase has those people in it.
Jakedog is a genuinely curious person. Facepunch can have debates and shit with going at each others throats.
I don't really see what was wrong with his Brony thread, either. It was legit question, and he didn't intend to start any arguments. Its the rest of Facepunch that'd run it into the ground.
Know Your Meme.com just posted an episode on it. http://knowyourmeme.com/newsfeed/episode
They are painfully unfunny, but they do know their information most of the time.
i like homestuck. yeah the story can be hard to keep track of sometimes, but it always wraps the loose ends into one big punch of plot development that makes me take a second to just be all "whoa shit" it just takes for fucking ever for the loose ends to come together but they always do it's not even done yet [editline]8th September 2012[/editline] yeah the fanbase is retarded but so is EVERY FANBASE EVER. i guess the uglier side of the homestuck fanbase reaches the masses quicker than everyone else because they're the ones all "HEY WHATEBER YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT SHUT THE FUCK UP HERE'S A GREAT WEBCOMIC READ IT NOW"
MS paint adventures is pretty rad. The real problem is everyone who likes it is a terrible human being. Including me. Oh yeah also the story is a knotty twisted cancer of weird hard to follow bullshit, Don't even bother trying to figure that shit out.
What other word could I possibly use for it
you could always call them idiots
you could always call them idiots
My whole post was about the fact that they aren't all idiots. A good deal of them are, sure; But you can't really judge a whole group of people with a video like that.
My whole post was about the fact that they aren't all idiots. It is quite logical to assume that one individual will act in a similar manner to another individual if both individuals share common interests, ages and socioeconomic backgrounds. Therefore if I spot a group of twenty something males dressing as trolls and spitting in buckets in wallmart or whatever I'm going to assume the entire group is mentally retarded and try my best to avoid them. Now let's extend the metaphor, the wallmart is now the internet, and the group is now everyone who likes the homestuck, I'm not going to waste my time getting to know every individual, discussing their fan-trolls and typing like a thirteen year old counterstrike player in order to separate retard from non retard, instead I'm going to say "everyone here is a retard" and leave promptly.

Don't call the people who aren't idiots 'idiots', and certainly don't call them autistic even if they are legitimately autistic (to their faces).
I disagree. It's a pretty okay webcomic, but the fans are massive faggots.
It's an excellent webcomic, but it's got absolutely shit fans. It's got the second worst fanbase, right after MLP in terms of obsessiveness and obnoxiousness. If you see a fan, run like hell. Here we tend to not have many of those fans, but outside of Facepunch, no luck. Read the comic itself and judge there, but avoid the fans.
