• Old computers + Stereomix = Pure hell...

Alright so i'm trying to record some footage of a game alright. And because computer manufacturers are scared of Stereomix for some reason, i can't record game audio. I googled the living crap out of it and i'm not getting anything useful (for me). I'm running on a HP dc5000 MT Windows XP With SoundMAX integrated Digital Audio.
If you are using Fraps, which IMO is the best game recording software about, you can record the computers sound without having a mic device specifically for it. In fact I would say any game recording software which can't record the game's audio without having a mic device available to do it for it is pretty crappy, and you'd be better off finding something else.

I just tryed Fraps and it has the same problem, i ticked "Record windows audio" and it didn't do anything. Anyone know what to do?
or if u want just game audio maybe use OBS or Virtual Audio Cable
Are you using the proper drivers? The generic sound driver in Windows for AC'97 and HD audio just has basic sound output and input functionality, it doesn't have the stereo mix loopback.

Use Dxtory, you can set multiple recording channels and assign them to outputs or microphones.
Use Dxtory, you can set multiple recording channels and assign them to outputs or microphones.
It won't record game audio ether. [editline]23rd June 2014[/editline] It also wont record for more then 2 seconds... like literally. 2 damn seconds.

Just install it.
Just install it.
Still the same
Why can't problems like this be solved by a simple EXE file...
I just tryed Fraps and it has the same problem, i ticked "Record windows audio" and it didn't do anything. Anyone know what to do?
If this uses the API I think it does, it'll only work on Vista and above Just use virtual audio cable or similar

As far as sound goes, you're doing something wrong or using odd settings perhaps. Google a tutorial and yes, update your drivers. At a guess, you might have a setting set at something outlandish which kills the recording, or maybe you don't have a folder set to record to? From what you said though, I've got no hints to go off.

Alright, so i renamed the downloaded Schema to "Sample" and when i run the game its there, i select it, run the game, and its just the default Half-Life 2 game, like i can't open the spawn menu at all. i must be doing something wrong.
