Too bad the game is dead. Also those promised free maps have only been 2 lmao.
thanks 2K Games, you sure know how to be greedy and ruin any potential a game had.
i like how this news comes out right after the news of the new hitman never having a season pass or paid DLC
The game was advertised to be ever expansive with free maps and like Iker said there's only been TWO. Fuck this game man.
Turtle Rock and 2K needs to get their head out of their asses and rethink about their pricing policy. these dlcs are more fitting for a f2p game rather than a full priced game. that said, I bought the first season pass and I fairly liked the characters, but the game is still lacking a shitton of content. turtle rock ought introduce a prestige-mode cause I already hit the full level (40), but i want to level up my hunters/monsters and profile at the same time.
Turtle Rock doesn't control prices, that's 2K's job
Evolve, haven't heard this title in a long while.
Since Turtle Rock Studios don’t want to split the community, DLC has been new monsters and hunters, so everyone can still play together. Maps have been doled out for free, to everyone. All of them are distinct, filling a broad array of niches, but levelling them can threaten to become a bit of a grind.
Well I see no problem here then.
I remember when this game got mega-hyped before it came out and bombed so bad.
I remember when this game got mega-hyped before it came out and bombed so bad.
The hype was insane. I never understood it. The game gets boring after ~10 games played.
ANOTHER Season Pass? No way, they don't deserve to do that at all. Haven't they learned their lessons yet? They need to put out a ton of FREE content to justify it, since while Evolve was kinda fun in the beta, there just wasn't enough substantial content on release to justify the $60 pricetag.
Here's the Steam stats, to no one's surprise the game is dying rapidly. (game was released in Febuaury)
That drop between February and March, now THAT's what you call an owie. I just hope someone takes the ideas from this and adds them to a project along with more content.
It's like they're putting the game on life support, but keep putting more cyanide in the catheter
Why are they even trying to support it They're just going to lose more and more money
Why are they even trying to support it They're just going to lose more and more money
Like I said, unless they release a massive free content update, they're not gonna be able to get more people in on it.
lmao just comes to show you, that if you're trying to maximize profits by squeezing as much money as you can from customers, you're a total shitlord making the game more expensive has an opposite effect on profits. It doesn't magically not effect how many people are going to buy it. Only a delusional person doesn't understand the effect of price on sales.
Honestly I have 120 hours in this game. I do believe it should have been 40$ at launch and the price of skins and characters should be a third the price of what they are. If that were the case then the game would have been much more popular. The game has a good amount of content, but being a heavily multiplayer focused game it should have been cheaper. As of right now there is 938 players in game on steam. Payday 2 has 28,000. Borderlands 2 has 11,500. Is the game dead? Well, it certainly seems to be dying. With only 5 players max in a match 900 players is a good amount to get a few rounds with but for the long term im not sure what's going to happen. I love Evolve. It's a gorgeous, awesome game ruined by awful price tags. I'm legitimately upset to see this games life winding down so soon.
For a heavily multiplayer pvp game it shouldn't have dlc at all
the amount that they tried to push the ELITE ESPORT shit with this game I'm glad it flopped. if they'd put the effort they made marketing this as some pro competitive game into actually developing it a bit more it would have done better. honestly building a game from the ground up as an 'esport' is a terrible idea.

The players do that.
I wonder if Evolve 2 will generate same hype and results.
I wonder if Evolve 2 will generate same hype and results.
Doubt it. Evolve is always gonna be remembered as "that decent but utlimately underwhelming shooter with horrid DLC practices". And i don't think Evolve as franchise will ever recover from it.
You don't get to just decide if your game is esport material. The players do that.
If I can remember, TRS didn't develop the game to be an e-sport, pretty sure 2K was shoving it down people throats however
I haven't played it but even people who liked it said it's a game for specific type of players aka not really a mainstream game. It also had a pretty high pricing so that probably turned off other players. I'm honestly surprised it's getting a second season pass.
I wonder if Evolve 2 will generate same hype and results.
Will there even be one? It doesn't look like this did good enough to warrant it.
This game costed far too much for the content you were getting, and this time, everybody knew it.
My god that fucking title change.
I think one of the reasons it bombed was because they had a really long alpha and beta that shit tons of people played. As a result of that a lot of people who would have bought it realised just how quickly the game gets stale and opted not to, like me. Same thing happened with Destiny though obviously that game still sold very well.
Nails in the coffin of Evolve: 1) Pre-order the game before the first trailer 2) Announce DLC before the main game has a trailer 3) Release a multiplayer only (focused) game at an noncompetitive price (60$ for standard edition) to other competitive shooters(Counter-Strike : 15$ around, for an example, which is one of the biggest e-sport fps/shooter atm) (As an example, Titanfall fell to the same fate. It was a fantastic shooter IMO, but the 60$ price tag was way too much.) 4) Massive unwarranted hype for e-sport. 5) Terrible lack of content at release, while there is an in-game shop with literally dozens of paid skins. (Lack of content but extreme amount of cosmetic dlc is weird to me) 6) No massive price drop after the game initially flopped, showing how 2k is disconnected with repopulating (or saving) their dead game. Even during the steam sale the game didn't drop under 15$, which was the price I would've went for it. Whoever wants to continue the list is free to add to it.
