I plan on making some movies in the future. They will have multiple actors, effects, pyrotechnics etc. Now I understand that this will not be cheap and I have planned to spend around $2000 for a camera. And I also know I will need about $1000 for accessories such as mics, a boom, lighting pads etc.. But what I am asking here is if this is a good camera? It records in HD, had a mic input (which is very important but not very common), eye piece, and a manual focus.

It seems to accomplish what I need and with he proper editing could create some very good video. Is it good for the price? Or does anybody know of any other ones? Im am not interested in the small, fit in your palm, handy cams. Unless one is well known for creating great quality video. Handy cams are out because when moved around during filming...they suck.
I'd get a DSLR like possibly a Canon 550D or 7D. Nikon D7000 is also nice.
Not quite sure about that camera though, but it looks all right.

Actually when I think about it, the 60D might be a better choice.
If you are planning to make porn movies, I'm your actor.

Lots of it is on sale now so it's a total of $2,264.78, and this is gonna give you wonderful results.
The Lens was one of the lenses used when filming the season finale of House.

Also this doesn't only have manual focus, but you're pretty much forced to use it because the auto focus is pretty bad for movies.
Would that be good enough for films? Being a still image camera and all.
Thanks for the post though.
Yeah it would give you exceptional results.

(It also records at 60fps, which lets you do slow motion at 50%)

Ooooh $2000 also.
You should do it :v:
I wish I could right now. But I just bought a truck and am now piss poor. But since its a sony Im sure there will be plenty available when I save up enough for one.
For two grand, I'd agree, cannon 7D is a solid choice, it's an excellent half frame DSLR, you'll not want for more.
I went with the canon 5D Mark II, it is excellent in everything it does.
Only problem they seem to keep quiet about; there is no autofocus for video mode, so you have to constantly tweak the focus ring to keep whatever you're filming well, in focus.
This is fine for tripod/still shots, but when you are tracking actors or zooming in, you have to juggle zooming and focusing. Very difficult to keep the shot steady with your hand crawling all over the zoom/focus rings.
