Well we got this kind-of-old air conditioner out of the shed, and it worked great for a while until I went away for a week and my parents turned it on all week (it only cools my room). So after I came back it wasn't blowing or anything, and when I opened the filter it was a block of ice. I figured it must be because it was just on too long, so with the help of a hair dryer, a hammer, and freaking hot weather it finally all melted. But after blowing for an hour it already has a layer of ice under the filter. Is there a specific part going bad or what's going on because my reaction is :wtc:
Leak? Might be the humidity of the air...
Perhaps it works a little woo well.
Air moisture condensing then freezing inside the Air-Con
perhaps it's giving you the cold shoulder.
I just want it to cool the air not cryofreeze itself like it's trying to visit the future
Dont leave it on the highest setting all the time. And clean out the filter.
The coil itself might be dirty, restricting airflow. Get a can of foaming coil cleaner and spray it on the coil to clean it out. Then rinse it. Of course disconnect power before doing so, and keep it disconnected for hours while it dries. Do not use a hammer, you will damage the coil.
Mine did something like that, not as badly as yours though.
It was too lat to go get a hammer or anything though so I had to sit there in 100 degree weather while it melted.
