• Sub-$100 Graphics card (No Sapphire cards)

I recently purchased a Sapphire HD 4850, waiting for my refund to get here after my replacement card. I need a sub-$100 (USD) graphics card for the best performance to price. Anything but Sapphire is fine, no preference or care as to what brand as long as it's a quality product. This is the card I've RMA'd. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102824 PCI-E, reasonable power consumption (good PSU, 500 watts), size isn't much of a concern, I could fit a 5870 if I could afford it. Thanks, I really appreciate any help you can give. This whole ordeal has been very stressful for me.
Why no Sapphire? Sapphire makes great cards. I'd say they're one of the 3 best ATI card vendors.
If you have an SLI-capable board, you can get dual 8800GT's for $90 right now.
Motherboard does not support SLI or Crossfire. 4 gig RAM, Quad Core Processor (2.3, AMD Phenom 9600+) Currently stuck with a Nvidia 9400 GT.
Also, you just got unlucky with that card. I've only heard of one or two Sapphire cards crapping out.

Horrible customer service, 2 cards in a row I had to RMA. [editline]07:37PM[/editline]
Also, you just got unlucky with that card. I'm sure that they make some good cards in the higher range, but I'm simply too frustrated with them. I guess they just ended the deal or something. [editline]07:46PM[/editline] Maybe I'm being like this because of my poor experience. More or less, I'd just like to avoid them if at all possible. The customer service thing really just threw me over, horrible beyond belief.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131162 A $100 card of the same type, different company. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130535 A 9800GT for $93. I'd still get that Sapphire card though. Try one more time, Sapphire makes good cards, you're probably just unlucky.
Actually, they're sold out.
They gonna comeback? I hope so :ohdear:
Doubt it. It's an old card. [editline]01:59AM[/editline] http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143118 It says currently unavailable, so it might come back in stock.
Also, you just got unlucky with that card. I've only heard of one or two Sapphire cards crapping out.
Actually, they had a bad batch of vapor-x 4890s and a while ago, they had a bad batch of 5770s
Seems like a lot of bad batches, but why weren't they prevented? Inadequate testing?
Not after the experience they just gave me, they'll never get a dime out of me again. Horrible customer service, 2 cards in a row I had to RMA.
Really? I've had great service with them and never had any major card issues (except for RMA out of the box, but they replaced it within two weeks). Well I can understand where you are coming from and respect your opinion.
Who knows, maybe in a few years I'll give them another try because of the good feedback here. Just no luck with the card posted, I'll wait a while before even considering it.
Seems like a lot of bad batches, but why weren't they prevented? Inadequate testing?
sapphire on the whole is pretty good. Unless there is a bad batch, most cards for all companies work. The 4890 vaporx had a cold boot issue where the fan would spin at 100, but no image would be sent. I would guess its just a manufacturing problem The 5770 vaporx had a faulty bios that only activated 720 shaders. People could fix it by flashing fixed bios. It isn't anything wrong with the design, just a manufacturing mistakes. Vapor-x is one of the best stock cooling solutions on the market.

Friend of mine has a card with the Toxic cooler, says it's amazing, always low temps at standard clocks.
I think I'll just sell my media center and buy a 5770 and new monitor.
Good choice
