• New Computer. Radeon HD 4870. No Visual Output.

Like the title says, I got a new computer. Running on 32bitXP (Getting 7 later, after the first round bug patch-ups maybe). My integrated graphics (which is what I'm using now) works fine. It shows up in the Catalyst Control Center and everything. My Radeon HD 4870 doesn't. It DOES, however, show up in the device manager. I manually installed the driver for my card straight off of XFX's support website when the CD's driver didn't work. Still nothing. It appears to be getting power and the fan is spinning, and windows recognizes it. I tried updating the drivers automatically just for the hell of it and it says it can't find a better match than the software I have now. Any help appreciated, thanks.
download the drivers from ati.com not xfx's site
You gotta disable your integrated graphics through the BIO's more then likely you will find it in the advanced options menu.
You gotta disable your integrated graphics through the BIO's more then likely you will find it in the advanced options menu.
I saw that option and I'm fully aware that it exists. However, what do I do if I disable the onboard graphics and the card still doesn't work? I'd be screwed. I don't think resetting the CMOS can fix that, can it?
If the card is faulty out of the box, you reset your CMOS and that puts the motherboard back onto factory settings, which yes will reset you back to the integrated graphics. You need to disable integrated in BIOS so the motherboard knows to use your card instead of its on-board.

Although, I didn't have to go to the BIOS, I just did it through Device Manager. Works all the same.
