$20 says the game is super old or bad, or something 90% of origin users have eg BF3
n-n-n-no NO, don't refund... h-here a free game, guys please
Munch on my cock EA. You ruined the game I waited months for. I don't want to play your other shitty games.
Munch on my cock EA. You ruined the game I waited months for. Yeah they are kinda shitty but that's it, they are not evil. Did you know companies like to make money? They are obviously trying to fix it. I believe steam has done similar.
We'll never be friends. Just die. If it bleeds, we can kill it.
they are not evil.
:v:
We'll never be friends. Just die. If it bleeds, we can kill it.
corporations cant bleed
I'd rather have a refund.
:v:
They are a corporation out to make money, not cause pain and suffering. They're greedy and incompetent in some/a lot of areas, but not evil
I'd rather have a refund.
tough shite
Seriously. Origin is not shit in the slightest. It uses far less resources than steam and downloads much faster (for me at least). They also have sales, going up to (usually) 75% off, just like your beloved steam. Steam having a monopoly is bad. Origin is legitimate competition and is a decent service. May I remind you that when HL2 was launched steam went down for quite some time (for a day+ if I remember right). Also Valve did not compensate people for this. This is Origins first major strain since BF3, and is much more strenuous than BF3 due to how it operates. [editline]9th March 2013[/editline]
tough shite
steam does the same, and will only refund in cases like The War Z.
I hope this applies to people who bought copies from other places other than Origin.

I've been burned thrice by them. The ONLY reason I'm ever downloading their fucking client again is if BF2143 becomes a thing. Past that? They lost me as a customer. Its not a hatewagon if there's a legitimate reason for the hate. We're not making shit up here, they're fucking us over at every goddamn turn, and you saying we're not allowed to be mad about it because a lot of people are mad at it is complete, 100%, unfiltered, fresh squeezed, home grown BULLSHIT.
1) This isn't about origin. It is about Sim City requiring an online connection for singleplayer. 2) HL2 came out in 2004. This is 2013. Outages like this are pretty unacceptable. Either you have the infrastructure in place to handle the load or you limit the sale of it (see Guild Wars 2).
wow must have been a really sad day way back in 2004.......
Anyone can underestimate anything at any time.

Don't buy it just because the previous was good (buy it if you think you'll like it, but don't base a sequel off a game that came out ~7 years ago). All this blind buying, brand loyalty to ancient brands, and preorders are what are promoting these horrible business practices and bad games. [editline]9th March 2013[/editline]
Anyone can underestimate anything at any time.
Stop making excuses for the shit EA pulls. This online shit is only because of DRM, not because of some "ITS SO IMPORTANT TO THE GAMEPLAY" concept. Fact is this online requirement for singleplayer shouldn't be there in the first place.
I find it funny that you guys argue that such an outage in 2013 is unacceptable, yet by that logic an internet outage of any sort is also unacceptable. Of which basically makes the arguments against the constant online requirements null, because in your collective imaginary world, there shouldn't be any major outages ever.

I'm paying $60 a month for this shit to work every day. Burping every now and again is one thing, no system is perfect. But when it happens every couple of days for hours and hours at a time, I expect to be credited the difference on my monthly bill.

Maxis have added 12 new servers today, christ give them a break. Its not like they're intentionally fucking over their own launch just to singlehandedly screw you over. You don't mean shit, you are meaningless in the grand scheme of things. [editline]8th March 2013[/editline]
Did you play BF3 because you liked 2? Did it feel like 2? Gameplay isn't what killed it, gameplay was for the most part pretty solid, save for some minor annoyances I won't go into. What killed that for me was the sheer volume of DLC coupled with an unfortunate burnout on interest for it early on. At this point, I have to pay for the entire game (which I already dropped $60+ on) again in order to play with everyone. because the massive fuckton of DLC packs they released made every single server with any credit to their name decide to run that 9/10 instead of vanilla, so my game is literally useless for multiplayer unless I give them more money. Yeah no. Got any other stereotypes to push on me about how much of a fool I am?

When I buy a game that I can't play I have the right to be pissed.
You can't bribe your way into good graces. You have to earn it EA, and you can start by putting the customer first, rather than your all-controlling greed

The launch of SimCity has been a complete failure; you can say "oh well they underestimated" all you like, but the fact is that they didn't have to pull this online game nonsense just to make it harder to pirate. Previous interviews made it perfectly clear that the game would be running on your computer (even including mod support), but obviously that's not the case. Steam has had capacity issues during certain events, but this launch makes them look like momentary blips of inaccessibly.
No need to release free games, EA. The plan for infinite money & respect is very simple: Stay away from developers. Give them a budget, give them all the time they want, give them them freedom in making their game.
DLC? You mean the expansions? They released expansions for fucking BF2 and 1942 too and no one was pissed then, grow up. If you had bought all the BF2 or 1942 expansions while they were new in total you'd end up spending the same amount of cash it takes to buy all the BF3 expansions, you're literally crying over something that DICE has done since 2002.
I played 1942 for all of... a week. On a friend's disk. Loved the mechanics, but without my own copy I was SOL anyway. Interest faded and I played something else. BF2 gave both mini-expansions for free after 1.5, and I got special forces for free about a year after that. That and there were literally so many servers for BF2 that were not running the expansions that I never even noticed the change until they gave em out for free. [editline]9th March 2013[/editline] For BF3, I'm glad the expansions/DLC caught on and became popular, but their extreme popularity, and thus usage on every single credible server, is the problem for me. I gotta shell out at least $45 if I wanna play consistently, and so does every single one of my friends.
Great, they're going to use this as an excuse not to go NEAR removing the always-online bullshit. "What more do you want guys, we gave you a free game!"
