Is there any decent Anti-Virus software that won't slow down my games.

Hi, I need help I've tried anti-virus programmes from Bitdefender to AVG to ESET Nod32, all of which slow the crap out of my games espicially TF2 which runs in window, It's not FPS lag but every 5 seconds or so the games will stutter. Yes I've added my steam folder as an exception on both programmes, and even that folder, I forget the name which has a file that seems to generate every few seconds you're playing.
Yes. I've made sure when playing games that neither programmes are scanning or doing anything at the time, still they make TF2 stutter like a bitch, so I have since as of now uinstalled all antivirus programmes which can you imagine leaves me pretty vulnerable to viruses and all that crap, although I'm an alert user (NoScript etc) I normally don't have an issue I still want to not have to worry about viruses that could infect my computer through other means, the only programme I'm currently using is MalwareBytes.
Anyway can any one here recommend a decent and lite anti-virus programme that doesn't ruin the crap out of my performance, I used to rely on ESET but that's just doing the same thing now.
You're absolutely sure it's these programs that are at fault? Hot graphics cards will often cause stuttering.
Iv'e had both AVG and Spysweeper (lol) and none of them have slowed anything down.
Comodo.

Definitely. I've literally uinstalled AVG (and other virus programmes) and tried TF2 afterwards and the difference is astonishing, just to be sure I reinstalled these programmes almost 3 times on each occassion flushing crap from my PC, and doing stuff like closing every single other programme that was running, including running GameBooster and upping my Page File.
Still each time the game would slow down.
comodo
I am using the free version of Avast! and I have no problems with any of my games, and it does a damn good job of protecting my computer for free software. It is only using about 3megs of ram right now.
I use ESET Smart Security and it doesn't impair my gaming, it doesn't use alot of resources.
I guess I'll try both Avast and Comodo.
i use nod32.
I use Microsoft security essentials
Avg in my experience, slows stuff down. Try avast or commodo
I heard Common Sense 2011 is quite light on resources.

Common sense will magically protect you from viruses, like that virus exploit that was on Facepunch a while ago.
comodo avast mse
Common sense will magically protect you from viruses, like that virus exploit that was on Facepunch a while ago.
It works on my old computer.
But then the virus was probably like "fuck that shit" because I was running Win2000.

Or it's because you don't download lots of promiscuous things, or have siblings or parents that use your computer.

Good point. Well my mom uses my laptop sometimes to play games on Facebook since the family computer is too old. But she uses the Guest account so she doesn't have full admin privileges anyway. That one doesn't have anti-virus because any anti-virus programs would cause Windows 7 to freeze and the unfreeze every 10 minutes.
Vipre is currently the best antivirus, and it's extremely light as well. It's cheap too if you wanna buy it
nod32

I know exactly what you mean, though a lot of people don't see it. I've yet to find a major background app that doesn't cause a slight stutter every few seconds, which is part of the reason why I run with no AV.
Wesker stop it with all the fucking disagrees.
Nod32, no contest really.
Comodo, Avast!, or MSE.
clamAV won't slow anything down, because it doesn't run.
I use Nod32 and I haven't had any problems yet.
I use Avira on all of my computers, I don't notice any slowdown on any of them.
Comodo. /thread
I don't use an antivirus and I haven't for many years, and not once have I gotten any sort of virus or worm because I don't go downloading and running every other thing.

And anything I'm not sure about, I run in my Windows VM and watch the process activity.
