IMO CoP is the only STALKER game that is much better when played vanilla.

I thought SGM added content without totally fucking up immersion.
Oddly, I don't like the larger view distances that every single mod adds. In many cases, I just don't like to see [B]everything[/B] because the maps don't really feel like they are meant to be viewed like some large vista. Also, when it comes to big graphic overhauls, why is there no attempts to make grass cast shadows? I remember playing unpatched SoC on release, and it looked stunning when it was on.
I'll can-it and take a look at this mod. I'm still way more excited for Thorny's mod.

The only thing that was wrong in CoP, for me, at least, was the fact that the ending sequences ([sp]after you get past the tunnels[/sp] ) were executed extremely badly, which is a crutch for all of the games. In many cases, I was almost forced to exploit the enemies, or just wait an insane amount of time for an enemy to show himself from atop a building. The story seemed rushed, even though it really wasn't; it was somehow like, when there was a new obstacle/problem/enemy, you would overcome it within minutes of finding it, and then it's like nothing ever happened.

It's a bit difficult to add a feature that was removed from the engine entirely, y'know. The grass shadows were removed back in patch 1.0003 for SoC for 'optimization'. It sucks, really.

Agreed. I don't use mods on CoP but I have SoC completely changed with AMK and a bunch of sub AMK mods.

No they're still in SoC. I just looked in the settings menu right now. Unless of course the option doesn't do anything,
Unfortunately I don't see any patch for their 1.8 version. I had just downloaded and started a 1.7 save of this mod and honestly don't want to download another 1.5GB.
This mod definitely adds a challenge when it comes to the monsters, there are just so many more than before and they take a good clip to put down, per enemy. Then again I am playing on Veteran, good mod.

The option either toggles shadows ON grass or it just doesn't do anything..I forget.
