My first PC build. Building a gaming computer any suggestions?

Yeah, building a gaming computer that should at least be able to run something like Team Fortress 2 at a good FPS. Would like to keep under $1250. Any suggestions of parts?
A GTX 260 is all you'll need to run games at even mid-high resolutions at 60 fps. Don't go for the latest and greatest (and extremely expensive lol).
What motherboard should I shoot for? I have everything else mapped out, but I'm wondering about my Audio Card, Motherboard, and Processor. I'm looking at Pentium 4s, actually.
do you need a monitor? keyboard? mouse? OS?
Find the newest updated guide on /g/ is you are going to use that one
I've got a monitor and keyboard, I'll go get windows 7 home premium at best buy.

Why would I go to 4chan?
Tbh you should go for Quad-SLI GTX 580s. Only 2000 dollars! Nah I kid.
I mean because if you don't, I already have a couple of $1100 builds that I just made for someone

Well in your other thread, you wanted to get a Pentium 4 3ghz... Why don't you tell us all the other stuff you have "mapped out." I seriously hope you are joking about Pentium 4's.
Lol. *looks on newegg for decent motherboards and doesn't know which to pick. Also rates this post dumb.*
pentium 4?
are you living in 2005
wait why would you even consider pentiums these days

I think I'll go for a build that Jae had posted. Those seem pretty good and in my budget. :P

I still want to know why you were even considering a Pentium at all. They are completely unacceptable for a new build these days.

Those requirements are the absolute minimum you should ever consider starting the game on, not something you can play it on!
I got it running decently on a 1.6GHz Pentium M.... How does that make sense?
Explains why my GPU went probably... *sigh

What.
A CPU's performance won't make a GPU fail all together.

Honestly a 260 is amazing for source stuff. An 8800 card can max out source stuff easily still \;

Good choice for TF2
as far as I know GTS 450 is better, but I might be wrong
Why is that hard drive only 3 GB? Lol.
Which hard drive? You're pretty stupid, aren't you?

True. 128MB Radeon 9600M though, going on 7 years of age.... I meant that as an example of how low end the thing was.

It depends.
