From the selection at NewEgg, which HD 6970 is best? That is, in terms of money/performance ratio, heat dissipation and overclocking-ability. Thanks.
Don't get those things that say "Superclocked" or anything that charges more for clocking, that's one tip.
I'd get this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102945 I bought one a couple of days ago. It has the bios switch that the reference HD 6950s had and Sapphire has the second bios pre flashed with the 6970 bios because they're cool like that. So you're saving a considerable amount of money and all you have to do to get the card turned into a 6970 is flip a switch and then use Sapphire Trixx to set the clocks to the 6970 ones. It cools really nicely and I've got it running 60MHz faster on the core and 50MHz faster on the memory compared to a stock 6970.
yeah, but there were some people who couldn't flash their 6950 to 6970.. so it'll probs be a hit and miss with the 6950s.

They're pre flashed cards. You don't even have to unlock it yourself, it's just shipped with the 6970 bios to begin with.
I see.. well if anyone else can confirm this, I'll buy it. I'm just being cautious, so no insult intended.

Anyway I'll take a picture of the bios switch in case you do decide to buy it. It's fucking tiny and hard to find.
lol k, thanks
Sorry I took so long. My case is black and the picture would have been even worse than it already is. Anyway here's a picture of where the switch is. It's right by the crossfire port and all you need to flip it is the screwdriver you'll eventually use to install the card with. Please excuse the horrid quality. I want to thank you for one thing. This has convinced me that I need to go buy a real camera and stop relying on a 5 year old point and shoot.
I see thanks. Haha, don't worry, my cellphone camera has a much more horrid quality, nonetheless, cameras are pretty cheap now, until you wanna buy those professional ones.....

I have the Sapphire 6950 1GB Dual fan/bios card and did not know about the switch.
