Ok, so I'm looking for a budget PC build. I already have a mouse ( Razer DeathAdder), but I need a keyboard ( I'll choose one, so you guys don't need to look for it.) Monitor can be bought later, so the only requirements I have is a maximum of $750 budget ( can be 800 if you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT REPLACE ANYTHING), Windows 7, and a intel based build with a GTX500 series card. I like the intel i5 2500k cpu, but I'm not sure which MoBo is the perfect one for it, (also, one that will support Ivy Bridge or w/e) For my purpose of gaming in the middle of the night, the case must be low key ( as in, nothing flashy with lotsa lights.) Also, I don't mind the fan cooled idea, but I can't have a chainsaw for a fan, know what I mean? xD if there are those water cooling systems that are portable or w/e, that'd be awesome :D I'll be buying stuff soon, after I get an idea of how much it'll cost and other factors like getting my parents to chip in/paying back my debt to my cousin :D
Edit: The build should yield above average FPS on online games like CoD, and the upcoming BF3. I'm not looking for like 150 FPS on max settings. As long as its over 60 fps ( any higher is pointless, since the naked eye won't tell the difference). It'd be ideal if I can fraps most games at above 60 FPS with minimum lag. Thanks :D

$793, $750 with rebates.
Couldn't get a motherboard with 16/8 8/8 for crossfire/SLI under budget unfortunately, not an F3 under budget, the 500gb seagates are decent though.
I need a case tho... and btw, I have no need for antiviruses :] ( not gonna shell out a couple bills for something I can easily get for free.)
That comes with a case, have a look at the bottom.
And norton was free with I think the processor, wouldn't use it anyway free or not.
You also won't be getting 60+fps on BF3 with this build, no idea what you'll get though but 60+ on maximum is doubtful and the human eye can see past 60fps (as the eye doesn't see in FPS but contrast)
especially in fast motion (turning in FPS's for example), but then again most monitors are 60hz anyway.
oh, didn't see the case down there xD Shouldn't I get a 750w PSU? ( might consider SLI/crossfire in the future) and whats so good about the 6870 over the GTX500 series? o.O might need 6GB of RAM for video editing too xD btw, got a SSD in mind?
You're never going to get an SSD in budget without massively crippling the core components, that 650w PSU puts out 52a on the 12v (624w) which is enough for 6870 crossfire in the future and the 6870 is the best card in that budget, about on par with the 560 Ti minus a bit.
Another thing, 6gb (triple channel) underperform on the 1155 platform and anymore than 4gb won't fit in budget.
oh, kay, thanks.
lol @ buying windoze

windows is the only OS i use and will ever use :]
edit: I was wondering, if the budget was 900 instead of 800, how much of a performance increase would I get? and what would be replaced?
PM'd you.
Actually, as of now, its $1100 budget sorry :p So... I guess I can get that SSD now eh? :D ( $300 increase ^-^)

Stop it.
Check out the Antec 300, it's a pretty cheap and cheerful case.
I did check out the antec cases awhile ago... but I kinda like the HAF more.. idk. still looking for a case that isn't flashy with lights/poor ventilation. The kind I'm looking for is like the ones that comes with prebuilt entertainment systems, but with a hint of gaming to it. I'll find one and let you guys know. I hope.
Update: Kinda off track here, but is this a good monitor? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824262011 I suck at choosing monitors, just need one that is over 20", 1920x1080 reso screen that is under $150 preferably. ( might set up a dual monitor set up, in the future, depending on if I'm gonna move to the dorms next year or not.) Still looking for a case...
Update 2: I'mma go with the HAF 922 case... I still need a CPU cooler since I'm looking to OC the i5 to around 3.8~4.0 GHz ( probs going to OC to 3.9. Quick question, if you OC the i5 2500k, can you still use Turbo? cause at stock clock, its 3.3 GHz, and with turbo on, it jumps to around 3.7. If I OC it to 3.9GHz, will Turbo jump it up to 4.3 GHz? That would be pretty awesome.)
A hyper 212 plus will get you to 4.5ghz pretty safely, cheap too.
And monitor wise, there's little difference between every 19"-23" TN panel quality wise, just get any Samsung/Acer/HP/Viewsonic/BenQ you like the look of
and you'll be fine, look at the reviews too.
Radeon... nope.avi

You're implying the 6870 is a bad card?

oh k. I was thinking of maybe a samsung/acer monitor.. time to go on newegg again.. And I don't need to OC the i5 to over 4.1 GHz just yet. Just gonna try 3.9-4.0 first to see if it can handle the games I play easily. If not, I'll go higher.. don't wanna overdo it on the OC since I don't really care for bragging rights...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009266 good monitor? btw I didn't know the hyper 212 was only $30. Thought it would be around $50-80..
lol.. if I include everything from your list, plus the monitor above, the Hyper212 plus ( and extra fan for push-pull configuration) that totals to $980.98 I guess I can work with this.. ( this total is before I use rebates/coupons). Would having an extra 2 GBs of RAM make much of a difference? Since I'll be video editting too and probably gonna use 3D softwares soon like AutoC4D ( might major in Architecture and in this sr year of high school, my arch. teacher is more computer-sided, than the traditional pencil and paper drawings.. so I might have to work on those projects at home..) Cause I heard from somewhere that 4GB is enough for gaming, but when you add in video editting/3D softwares etc, 4GB isn't enough to run the programs smoothly and quickly. Just saying. Cause I'm under the budget of $1100 ( which is a good thing, but I wanna maximize the performance per buck as much as possible.)
Go for 8gb then, don't go for 6gb though as that requires triple channel which underperforms on 1155, 4gb or 8gb.
oh k thanks. do I get the DDR3 ones at 1333 mhz ( PC3 10666)?
nvm got it.. I'm not really sure of the 6870 card, since I've been reading a lot of negatice feedbacks about it...
https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/MySavedWishDetailPrint.aspx?ID=21540907 here's what I ended up with o.O $1,119.90 subtotal >>
You can get the XFX 6870 for $20 more (same price with rebates).
wait, do you mean after the rebate, the xfx 6870 will be the same price as the 560TI? o.O or before rebates?
After the rebate the XFX 6870 will be the same price as the sapphire one, the 6870 is a great card, easily the best in it's price range, the 560 Ti is a bit more expensive and a bit more powerful.
oh I see. Thanks. How far can you OC it tho?
Just as much as pretty much every other card.
oh ok, thanks
Not as good as a nvidia equivalent.
well, I've seen a lot of pretty bad reviews about the 6870, but my friend has a 5000 series card and think its great. Been telling me to get the XFX card. idk.. I like the Evga GTX500 series lol, but tbh, 300 for a single card is wayy over the budget for me at the moment, so I guess I'll go with the 6870, crossfire in the future. and if even then it can't handle games anymore, I'll switch to the GTX series probs 700 series.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=50001669&IsNodeId=1&Description=6870&name=XFX&Order=BESTMATCH I dun get this... for the XFX 6870 cards, there's 3 options, and the specs are ALL the same.. but different prices? what the fuck?
oh and btw out of Saphire/XFX/ASUS/GIGABYTE's 6870, which is better? price range are similar, but there's different specs. (I don't care about the free games some include since those games don't interest me.)
Not a whole lot of difference honestly, just cooling performance.
Get the Sapphire or XFX (cheapest ones that aren't reference) and you're good to go.
