the way it works is that you either a) send it in like you could do with the 360 or b) have put a hold onto the 500 bucks you spent on the console, send you a new one, and unhold your cash once you send in the broken one

I actually am not, I just think that people who send it in without a deposit should get a free game too, that is just my opinion though.

I know this is Microsoft and not EA, but thanks to EA whenever I hear something along the lines of "a minority of users are experiencing issues" (Simcity/ME3 press releases), I assume that it is a significant portion of the userbase.

While a lot of the things Microsoft have done over the course of the year have been pretty poorly received, [I]THIS[/I] is a nice way of making up for a defective disc drive. Good on Microsoft.
