Awesome things you would wish happened/want to happen

Have you ever thought of something perfectly possible with current technology or near future technology? Want to talk about it? Post your tiny little dreams about stuff you would love popping up in the newspapers, on TV, or even in your own life!
I'd love a sort of hardcore large scale paintball war tournament with realistically designed paintball rifles, paintball mechs ala. megabots, paintball shooting drones, paintball shooting tanks and APC's. Playing the tournament is basically a gamble for money and gifts, the only qualifications for a team to enter would be proper protective equipment(masks, light body armor) the team being properly trained in non-lethal hand-to-hand combat(dirty tricks and seriously injuring a combatant would be a permanently disqualifying violation of rules, so no breaking bones or bladed/otherwise lethal melee weapons allowed) and a small donation to the host for the cost of staffing medics, keeping ambulances ready and such. If a team captures equipment or ammunition, it is theirs, capturing an enemy fighter would be count as a kill as long as the fighter remains in captivity until the end of the battle.
It would probably count as extreme sport, due to the hazard of being ran over by a vehicle or other types of serious injury. But if fighting is tolerated in ice hockey, I am sure it would be tolerated in this sport too.
"Goddammit my bank is just FULL of money, I can't TAKE IT! Here, have all of my money ever, Mr. Tmaxx!"
"I'm swimming in cars and wife says i need to clear them out, here's the keys and the title to all of them, have fun!"
Not war would be pretty nice. I could go for a nice not war right now.
More in line with your intentions, maybe some giant combination cross country race/destruction derby. Also Silent Hills actually getting made.

With the amount of russian CS:GO players, it would be funny if the armies of NATO countries arranged for the gathering of their own anti-russian teams :v:
War has evolved! Now we are painting each others faces at a distance of 300 meters and fighting griefer wars online!
Not in line with OPs intent, but I wish for the impossible to unscrew myself and have my life back on track....

It actually fits perfectly. I just sort of wanted to hear what people thought would be cool but hasn't happened yet.
Colonize space. All of it.
Id like it if humans were more interested in building than destroying.
Imagine if all the energy we have wasted on warfare was instead used on vast infrastructure projects, perfect engineering and design, Flawless city planning, space exploration.
Maybe a more humble idea, That people always said what they meant, that there was no backhanded politics, no deceptions.
I sort of hope in a way that there's going to be a big reactionary movement against technology some time in the near future much like the social movement in the 60's. In fact I can bet on it.
It'd be cool to see a time where the thing to do for kids is to learn about nature and survival instead of being obsessed with iphones, minecraft etc.

You do realise that every kid from every generation has had some kind of obession right? Like with kids back when it was comicbooks/trading cards, or early video games, and suddenly the older people who couldn't understand it were all "These things are evil and ruining our children" and they NEVER ruined children.
You and your Neo-Ludditism isn't going to change shit because shit isn't broke, and that "movement against technology" will never happen.
Half-Life 3. :v:

lmao take it easy. when did i say that this generation is somehow different from others? every generation is obsessed with something, and then the kids often rebel against it
my wording sounded a lot like something out of deus ex but i can pretty much guarantee that a bunch of hippies will start something like that. whether it's in 20, 50, or 200 years. all said was that i thought it would be interesting, guess i hit a nerve

also it's "Neo-Luddism" dude. might wanna get that right before you start throwing terms around. and no, i am not a luddite

If my situation goes the way I want it to, I will be able to help people (yet im very bitter towards humanity and my maker right now ) and MAYBE talk about what the hell happened here.
Its a really f ed up situation.....
Ill leave it at that......
The other goal is create my own religion for the right reasons... I have some interesting ideas...
Injecting knowledge into your brain with a syringe.
Machines become more complex and advanced enough that they can perform complex human actions that'd require an attention span and replace all jobs and while we earn money like no tomorrow.
just so we can sit around on our lazy asses while not worrying about money
I just want to be loved.
Wow, 16 posts in and not one about sex? I'm proud of you Facepunch.
What I'd love to see is extremely advanced virtual reality where you plug in directly to your brain meaning everything you see, feel, and hear is 100% real. Of course this is at the same time a pretty terrifying thought, but it'd have amazing applications.

Must you tempt me?

Honestly, if this was to exist, I think it would need to be regulated somehow.

Please hold in the urge.

Using a surround sound system along with an Omni Treadmill + Oculus Rift can achieve almost all of them, but we still have to tap into our nervous system to simulate pain and emotion.

I can see potential uses as military simulations, sports training, or just immersive gaming.
None the less, it'd be very cool - and I believe we can get full virtual reality sometime in the next 50, if not, 25 years.

Yeah, it'd be quite amazing and horrifying. It could be used to train people for dangerous jobs, provide fun for dangerous stunts, but at the same time no risk of death, allow people to have a place to escape. It also could be used in situations similar to Inception though to trick people via fake reality...

Despite VR like that being immersive, it still is limited by powers of computer and prevents natural movements and feelings which is highly important.
Yes VR is very interesting. So interesting I decided to use it for my class thesis on emerging industries. What I wish to see in the near future is a way to simulate touch and pain. We could use electrodes on the body for pain perhaps (imagine actually getting shocked by a baton in HL2), but touch is something else. Perhaps some sort of exoskeleton could be developed such that when you run into an object in the game world the exoskeleton stops you from moving in real life. Any other thoughts on this matter?
Once we get full virtual reality, we better prepare for virtual sex games.
Once we get full virtual reality, we better prepare for virtual sex games.
I imagine some scientist inventing true VR and when questioned about why he responds about how he couldn't get laid by real girls.

I couldn't find the raw footage so please bear the random segments.

The fact you know this video exists disturbs me deeply down to the core.
I honestly don't care about money or possessions. I just want a nice girl who loves me and cares about me and has some things in common with me. I don't care about sex, I just want a nice, warm relationship.
With cuddling. Lots of cuddling.
But I guess if I wanted to choose something more improbable, I guess it would be increasing the lifespan of my cat. He's kind of my best friend, I've had him since I was little.

Prosthetic limbs that are actually more useful than the regular fleshpoles attached to your torso.
I always asked for this.
