Piracy won't really be much of an issue for Nintendo until software hacks come out. Hardware mods are way too difficult for the mass majority of people to do.

The 0603 LEDs in the joycons alone are a massive barrier of entry for cosmetic mods, which are usually the easiest mods to do for consoles these days. The 0603 LED is something like only 2mm across iirc, and you're going to be soldering them in place. It takes a very steady hand for this size application even with the proper tools. Without them you're going to have to be really good at soldering. It isn't impossible, I've personally done solder work on very small SMD parts before, but it's much harder than the old through-hole stuff.
