My laptop is an HP Pavilion dv6 with switchable graphics, the Dedicated card being an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650, running Windows 7 64-bit(if you need any more info let me know)
If this looks too long to read just skip to the very last paragraph
I just got my laptop back from these guys after I sent it in to fix an overheating problem it had seemingly developed overnight. While I don't think their work has anything to do with my current problem, I suppose it's a possibility. Anyway, somehow from the time I handed them my computer and the time I got it back, my settings were reset to use the integrated graphics instead of my 5650. I don't even remember how I switched the last time it got set back to using the integrated graphics, all I remember is that it was a huge pain in the ass and AMD's Catalyst Control Center (or "AMD VISION Engine Control Center" as it's called now) is a huge pile of shit. When I first got my laptop, it was the simplest shit; a button to use the integrated graphics or the dedicated card. Sometime after that some update royally fucked it up and now when I open what is supposed to allow me to switch between cards all I get is this

That's with "Advanced View" selected in the Preferences. As far as I can tell it's supposed to look like this

I'm missing some rather important headings, as you can see. I've been trying to fix this for the past 7 hours now, and I've read about people with the exact same problem, screenshots of the same AMD VISION Center and everything, but the two I kept coming back to were either from 2010 or for Windows 8. The 5650 is still properly hooked up and functioning and whatnot, here are the two options for graphics in the device manager

The 5650 (the only one of the two I actually want to use) is said to be working properly, while the 4250 is apparently getting errors, maybe because I installed the proper drivers for the 5xxx series. Regardless, I don't intend to use the fucking 4250 at all so that shouldn't make any difference; what it means until I can find some way to get my computer to use the 5650 is that I can't even open games, at all, because they have no "Graphics Device" to use. I can't find any way to switch graphics from the Device Manager and when I look through the BIOS with the menu on Start Up, it doesn't allow me to select a graphics card or even make any mention of them at all. I ran across some thread on another site about someone using an "unlocked" A08 BIOS thing or something to switch cards in the BIOS on his Alienware laptop, so if anyone has a download for the "unlocked" BIOS for my laptop I'd appreciate it.
I've already tried all the obvious stuff, as mentioned the BIOS and installing the newest AMD drivers from their site (gotten from here), several damn times, as well as installing some older drivers(currently have the most up to date). I've deleted all AMD stuff completely between each install through the Remove Programs and Features thing in the Control Panel, and I even used Driver Fusion, which is apparently the successor to Driver Sweeper, to remove any AMD stuff the Control Panel removal thing missed in between installations. They're either installed fucking correctly or AMD's installer is screwing it up. This is really stressful, I didn't even have my laptop for the last 5 days or so, and now I can hardly use it.
So, that was really just to give some background on exactly what I've tried and what isn't working, all I need to know is how to get my laptop to use the 5650 card instead of the integrated graphics. Use it at all times, only when plugged in, whatever, I just need to be able to use the card.
The problem with that dual GPU switcharoo is that it's a proprietary technology developed by HP. AMD doesn't officially support it. You're going to have to download the video drivers from the HP website for your specific laptop.

Should I remove the AMD drivers before installing the HP drivers?
