Any good online guides or books for Vipassana meditation?

I am looking to do Vipassana meditation because it is non directive mindfulness meditation, which supposedly has quite a bit of mental benefits. I also would like to meditate to simply relax and enter a "deeper state", but mostly because I have time to kill and want to see if its worth it. I have searched for online guides but have only found one online course which has a bad schedule for me and no good online guides. I also searched Facepunch and noticed one thread had the OP made fun of incredibly and had people post things without evidence, feel free to say meditation is worthless so long as you back it up, so I can know I'm wasting my time. Also don't say it's just placebo, it's a mental exercise so placebo shouldn't apply, since it's all in your head anyway. Feel free to also recommend a better non directive mindfulness meditation. So any links or books anyone?
