• Suggestions for what to do with spare systems?

So I recently got a few towers in for dirt cheap, and they've kinda been collecting dust. I'm looking for ideas as to what to use the hardware for. I was looking into using them for some sort of computer cluster, but I'd like to see what you guys had to say. I have 6 of the following systems:
Dell Optiplex 990 i5-2400 3GB DDR3 (1x 1GB, 1x 2GB) 250gb HDD
I got them for cheap enough that I'm not too intent on selling them, and I'd like to see what dumb/crazy shit could be made out of the mess.
Could make a huge node for possibly running a fuck load of source engine servers. Private lab/domain level stuff. Nginx load balancing(that's a lot of cpu power) There's a whole lot but what actually interests you?
The source engine server node thing sounds kinda neat. I don't really have any preference as to what I'll be doing with these. I was mainly looking for suggestions. I figured if I couldn't get any other ideas, I'd set them up as VMPI workers and offer to compile people's source engine maps or something like that.
Bit overkill on the hardware, but you can always set it up to be an pfsense box. Its nice if you got a few devices on your network and you want to manage them effeciently.
