I've taken things directly from books, but in small form and i always quoted them.
I did not always cite them though. But i also never said they were mine.

Yeah don't ever plagiarize not only is it bad for your writing skills and such but once you get caught, serious shit can happen. I plagiarized one and half paragraph on my Things fall Apart Essay and I got a 0/100. The essay was weighted so it raped my grade so bad that it went from an A to a B. It really fucked over my GPA.

I've done my share of plagarising in College. Professors had so many papers to grade that they didn't have time to check through them all and make sure there was no directly copied content.
