Just an informative poll: what kind of horror do you like the most?
Naturally, I've only quoted movie title, but this is valid for video games or books too: just vote the kind of horror that creeps you out the most in general.
If you like a kind of horror that is not in the poll, feel free to post it below.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

That should belong in Psychological / Paranormal
I ticked them all
I like the horror it self
I ticked them all
That's not the point of the poll though. You should have ticked those that scare you the most / you enjoy the most.
You do have a preference don't you?
I don't believe there are really any good horror films coming out now of days. Or maybe because when I was younger, horror films seemed more suspenseful and scary.
Granted classic horror such as The Shining and The Exorcist will never become dull.
A lot of "horror" movies that come out now really focus on the "shit jumps out and makes you shart yourself" aspect rather than a good visual creepiness.
:also, kinda looking forward to see how Anthony Hopkins is in The Rite, I'm more into the psychological horror myself.

No, I like all types of horror equally. Be it a senseless gorefest or a psychological one.

Shining didn't scare me at all, though. The only scare was when I was expecting popups or bad shit to happen but nothing happened then.
Aliens. #1 fear.

Oh god just glanced to my right out of my window and saw a scary shape :ohdear:.

The Shining is a long movie that does drag at some points so i can understand. I think the reason why it will always be one of my favorites is because I first saw it on tv when I was like, 8 and it terrified me
I definitely would not count Alien VS Predator as horror. Put Alien in there instead.
Sorry, I can't change the poll anymore.
Silent Hill horror types for the fucking win, Silent Hill 2 is the best.
I liked paranormal activity a lot.

The premise was pretty cool but the whole 'home-movie' style seemed a bit stupid to me.
If there's any sort of excessive gore, then it's not a horror anything.
Horror messes with your mind and makes you think. That's why Amnesia's so FUCKING SCARY
Psychological and Paranormal
The ones with nudity in it.
Sci-fi horror with suspense and some gore in there too.
I think "The Thing" is a perfect example of that kind of a movie.
Psychological because the only weapon you have is your own sanity - and that's exactly what the genre is attacking. Some games even take it so far as to create fake bluescreens and whatnot. Of course it loses all suspense after you know the tricks, but the first run is bound to be awesome.
Oh and I played the Amnesia demo, was left completely unimpressed. Nightmare House 2 did a better job.
Psychological is the best in my opinion, it comes across as being much more immersive and real for me as opposed to the cheap "Ooga booga!" scare tactics.
Plus I admire the work it takes to create an authentic experience that psychological horror can bring.
paranorma horror , its just that i find ghosts , spirits, hauntings etc very interesting
I'm not a fan of horror, but if I had to choose I'd pick paranormal and cryptid.
Whatever category zombieland is in

That movie was fucking EPIC.
Science fiction I guess, zombie films are fucking nice especially the 28days/weeks later. also zombieland, though it's got some comedy aspects I suppose
also aliens to some extent but then again i don't see the "War of the Worlds" type movies as horror
also psychological and action/thriller type of horror shit probably
As long as its not overly violent and not jump-from-the-shadows horror i'm fine.
ZOMBIES nuff said
