At least they haven't just given up on it.
I don't get it, what's the problem? Is the expansion too large? Can't be that since PS3 hard-drives are pretty large and you can buy e.g. Undead Nightmare for Red Dead Redemption which adds a lot more than Dawnguard to Skyrim. If it works on the 360, what's giving them issues with the PS3?
Bethesda games have never really worked properly with PS3.

What works on one doesn't mean it will work on the other without out some retooling. Plus Gamebyro in general is pretty shite.
Bethesda games have never really worked properly with PS3.
This is very true, Fallout 3 had a lot of random freezing/crashing. F:NV was better, though. Haven't had a problem with Skyrim (yet) except that lag when saves get too large.
. Plus Gamebyro in general is pretty shite.
Skyrim is running on the creation engine. Oh yes totally dumb for stating a fact.
Skyrim is running on the creation engine.
Dude, they re-branded Gamebyro because they changed a bunch of stuff for Skyrim. I mean shit, many of the problems found in their games on the Gamebyro engine can be found in skyrim. Everything about it handles nearly the same as Gamebyro.
This was discussed in the Skyrim Megathread a while ago. The creation engine is a modified gamebyro
Skyrim is running on the creation engine.
And the Creation engine was derived and modified from the Gamebryo engine. Gamebryo hated the PS3 as well, so it really shouldn't come across as a surprise that Skyrim's port for that console ended up with serious issues. Bethesda might need to invest into coders familiar with the PS3 architecture or something like that to smooth over their ports eventually. shit, double ninja'd
I get that, but this isn't like creating a new game on the PS3, it's just adding some content.
The PS3 has a weird Hybrid Memory Architecture, meaning that half the memory is used by the system at all times, effectively cutting the usable memory in half. About 40 hours in to Skyrim on the PS3 version the Frame rate would shit the bed because the player effectively caped out the PS3's RAM. To add MORE files and content to the game would exacerbate the problem that I'm not even sure they've fixed completely in Vanilla.
Skyrim is running on the creation engine.
It's a re-branded and very slightly modified Gamebryo, you can tell because the main Skyrim files are .ESM (Elder Scrolls Morrowind) the same files they've used since that game.
That doesn't make Delta's statement less true. He never said it wasn't a modified Gamebryo engine. He just said that wasn't the name of it.
And the Creation engine was derived and modified from the Gamebryo engine.
True, but it's still a new engine from a technical standpoint. Creation facilitates the rendering of realistic environmental effects, including dynamically falling snow and detailed flora, wind has an effect on the landscapes. Overhaul to the Radiant AI system which allows real time AI interaction with their environment, other AI. And the visual enhancements. Not to mention this is the engine they will be using for next gen project, so we have yet to see it's full potential compared to gamebryos.
GoldSrc was a heavily modified Quake engine The Infinity Ward engine used in COD is heavily modified Quake 3 engine. That is what Creation is, a modified heavily Gamebryo engine. isn't it harder to program on ps3?
