• Quick watchdogs question about Online Hacking.

I have a question about this game (Watchdogs), I just bought it and started playing campaign. Out of random I couldn't start mission and it said I am being tracked or something and I got a purple percentage bar going, I found some guy who just looks like citizen, he got into car and drove off, I chased him and raised barriers on alley he was driving so he died I think and I got points. Question: was that real player or just kind of simulated online hacking or something? I mean I thought in order to play online - I need to access online mode or something?
After completing the "Open Your World" campaign mission real people can invade your game and try to hack you, this is always on unless you physically disable your internet connection. Similarly, you can invade other people without them knowing until you start the hack or they try to start a mission.

When you are playing watchdogs, you're always online bc you need to be logged into uplay to play. The way watchdogs works with multiplayer is that it's mostly random and can happen at any time. So, yes, it was a real player.
I guess that's kind of cool even if a little bit frustrating.
I'm pretty sure at that point it's a NPC that serves as an introduction to the online hacking thing, but after you complete Open Your World real players will be able to invade your game in the same way. Just got forced into hacking online by mission. This is pretty fun actually, despite taking fucking year to hack, I got to 80% then guy found me but I managed to escape. Reminds me of AC Black Flag online game.
