It's still pay to win even if they lowered the prices to have more people buy it.

Someone at Valve is actually putting out small updates on a weekend, with Valentine's, jeez. I mean, obviously they could have released it next week instead in anticipation of *something* always not working, but this is still remarkable to me.
Too bad it'll probably take the whole of Valve to make substantial changes, I imagine these small updates are just supposed to slow down the mob.

just gonna post this because the posts might seem weird to people who don't play dota:
valve implemented a new gamemode in dota 2 for chinese new year
in this gamemode people with points could upgrade some beast that would fight for you. obvs the team with more points would have a huge advantage because their beast would be much stronger
however they really dropped the ball when they said that it would only be available at random times during the day, for only 10 minutes. this really fucks over anyone who has any sort of commitment during the day

If you're buying the cosmetic you should be buying it because you like the cosmetic, not because it gives you points for an event that is going to go away next month.
The people who do it for any other reason are idiots.

But you [I]have[/I] to buy the Arcana or shell out money if you even want to play the event and have a chance to win.
It was the same problem with the PA arcana, giving a cosmetic item a chance of dropping more items is incredibly dumb because it breaks the game and the community.
You don't have to buy CM arcana to play the event.

how does that change anything? pretty much the only way to win in this gamemode is to spend points, does it matter how many times it happens?

also its more than once a day, something like 3 or 4 times a day
There's been about 5 events today already. And yeah, if the enemy team has enough points to upgrade everything to level 3 and your team can only get level 2 chances are your team will lose horribly unless you have 5 strong heroes for teamfight and execute everything perfectly.

the window is now 20 minutes and they happen pretty frequently, with 1.5-4 hour intervals
Every single Dota 2 event has been completely ass except for the Greeveling. It was the only one that actually fun and not ruined by bullshit. It had great rewards as well and I would be surprised if Valve ever gives away items like that again.
