My mom has been wanting a laptop forever.
I decided to buy her one for her birthday. My budget is $300 +/- $10
She wants it to check emails, listen to music, and watch HD videos online (streaming especially).
I asked her if she wanted a netbook, but she said that the 10" screen might be too little for her eyes. So something with ~13"+ screen would be good for her.
Any suggestions?
Any help?
How about this one

according to this review it can handle HD playback

what I'm not sure about is whether it comes with an OS or not
it doesn't say

Probably gonna be Windows 7 Home Premium if I go by specs. might be Starter tho.
It's sold out :frown:
I wish that you guys would have helped me out more.
you can try going to newegg's laptop/netbook section and sort by price and see what you can find

I tried but I'm not sure what's good.

$104 off today
I'd say get this one soon before it expires.
It's dual core CPU, DDR3 RAM, NVIDIA ION GPU, 250GB HDD, and is nice.

It's nice and all, except my mom's eyes are pretty bad and she can't see shit on a 10" screen. Trust me, my brother has one and she can't see shit on it.

Well I don't think the screen size matters as much as what resolution you have it in
you cannot get a decent one with screen larger than 10" at that price, to be honest.
The one I posted is already $102 off for a 10"

I suppose your guys are right.
Although it shows it being $345
yes, the original price is $449

Was: $449.99
Now: $345.99

Oh I was just saying so because you said "I'd say get this one soon before it expires" like I won't get it any time after today for that price, plus it made me think it was like $230 because the money wasn't subtracted yet for some reason.
Anyway, I'll continue looking for more computers.
I'm even gonna up my budget to $400.

I have that one in back. :iia:
It can even play some games, have not tried 1080p stuff but 720p works fine. and the battery life is amazing. the only problem i had was starter but newegg had a combo with it for $50 and I got 2GB of ram for $20.

well, still all of them are on discount for who know what reason.
I would personally suggest that one.
It all depends n you in the end.
12.1" with the same set up won't be cheap. ($399 for the Intel GPU)
and I don't recommend getting the 12" version as it is not equipped with NVIDIA ion GPU.
so you get a larger screen but poorer graphic & higher price.
Totally not worht it in my opinion.
that 10.1" one is seriously the best netbook you can get.

I think there is a older version with the ion, but it was like $450 or something.
