• Gmod lagging!
    8 replies, posted
Basically whenever I look at lots of props or NPC's the overall framerate reduces greatly, but when I look away at a wall or something it runs perfect, or when I go into a small room with hardly anything in it. It's like this with these game aswell: Zombie Panic: Source, Counter-strike: Source, Half-Life2 etc. Here are my computer specifications: Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2Ghz Graphics: Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family RAM: 2GB Looking at this hardware I'm pretty sure that my laptop should run Gmod fine but I am thinking it maybe the graphics card that is causing this. Any help would greatly appreciated. Urban. (User was banned for this post ("Wrong section" - birkett))

Intel graphics chipsets are not designed for gaming. Try changing the graphics settings to the lowest values.
well its your graphics. That chipset isn't suppose to handle all of those npcs or props, the more you have, in a room, the more lag you'll experience, when you look at a wall or go into a small room its easier to handle for your computer, so yeah, your graphics, your getting this in your other games as well due to the amount of objects, props, action, etc going on in the game as well, you'll notice that your frames will go up when nothing is going on. Hope that helps [editline]06:06AM[/editline] ninja'd
This happens because this chipset does not support Hardware T&L, and it will quickly saturate once it has to update the vertex data of too many objects. In short: get a real GPU, nowadays CPU can't make up for shit graphics hardware

Yes, I thought it was the graphics. You can't really upgrade a laptop either can you ? Well looks like I will have to invest in a gaming laptop rather soon because I have just got into steam games. Thanks for all the help guys, much appreciated.
You could also try reducing the Dx Level. Add -dxlevel 80 to the launch parameters.
