Should I become a security guard? - General

I need a job desperately, currently I'm living off all the savings from the 2 jobs I worked during christmas. I've been trying to get a job and sending resumes to different places on craigslist but so far I've not gotten any replies.. and I'm seriously considering getting a security license and become a security guard. But the thing is, Ive heard people say that security guard is a shitty job, you get crappy hours, low pay, its boring.. On top of that I also need to pay for the licensing and the 40 hours training which is 175$.. FYI the average security guard job pays around 10$-12$/ hour Should I do it? I'm in school so no way I can work odd hours

How the economy is right now I would take any job, now after saying that since you have to pay a lot of training than I would just work at some food place or something.

Apparently 90% of the time you're just standing aronund and dont do shit. You have no authority, cant arrest people and here where I live you don't get to carry weapons either..not even a handcuff. I'd much rather want to job as a security guard instead of an employee at McDonald's. Here in my town, the security guards do nothing except for walking around, checking on some stores, walking around more, buy food, walk around more. While the weekends on McDonald's must be a living hell, because there's always a shitload of people ordering food, and the employees are running around like whipped dogs.
