Intel doing a good job on their drivers lately.
I was really hoping the contents of the news article would just be a picture of a normal dedicated GPU.
no shit, it's Source after all

Ever since the HD 4000 and HD 3000 integrated GPU were released they've been doing reallly well with them, well enough that its a viable choice for a budget gaming PC

I was surprised how it could games like Planetary Annihilation so smoothly, i got the 3000 on my laptop. Bought it for around 400 euro and it can play most games on low/medium with a solid 40 FPS.
what do you mean by this
That source generally runs pretty decently even on midrange or submidrange hardware.

This is one reason why the Titanfall beta was so surprising to me: it didn't run well at all. I can run Battlefield 4 without a hitch and people complained (still do?) about performance in that game all the time but I couldn't get a stable FPS in Titanfall. Exactly.

Me too. Even when everything was on low. I had to deactivate and activate Anti Aliasing and bam. 60 fps all the time. Always. But I had to do it everytime I started the game. Strange performance boost.

I think they modified the Source engine quite a bit and the game has tons of high quality art assets unlike most Source games. I'm hoping Nvidia puts out some drivers that'll improve performance because I wasn't running it too hot either.

I've been stuck on pretty crappy hardware for a little bit, but I got a way higher and more consistent frame rate with the Titanfall beta than I do now with CSGO
no shit, it's Source after all
honestly titanfall is to source like CoD is to IdTech.

This is a heavily modified Portal 2 build source engine.
This is a heavily modified Portal 2 build source engine.
Eh? I heard it was the dota 2 build.
Eh? I heard it was the dota 2 build.
No the AppID on the build was portal 2. Why would it be the dota 2 built? That was modified to suit over the top MOAB gameplay.
honestly titanfall is to source like CoD is to IdTech.
They still used Source as a base to develop on.
honestly titanfall is to source like CoD is to IdTech.
is it, though? I never played the open beta, but from videos and screenshots, it does look like newest version of source with a couple of graphic enhancers slapped on. Same small maps, same prebaked lightning.

Yeah it's pretty Source-y, just masked under pretty shaders and faster rendering of static props. When I noticed maps had displacements I knew it was still pretty close.
Why would it be the dota 2 built? That was modified to suit over the top MOAB gameplay.
What. Game engine =/= game genre. The main reason would be that they don't offer that build of the engine to anyone.
I'm pretty sure it's the dota 2 build since that added the cloth simulation which titanfall has a few instances of.
Running titanfall on a surface pro? Where did they find the hard drive space to put it on?

My surface pro has 512 GB storage.
