Im thinking of buying a secondary computer. But im not sure which one would be the best for it. Its going to be used for Programming, Video editing, Burning, and Data.
Well, it depends, some Intel C2D are better than some AMDX2's, and Vice versa. You really need to look for Price to performance.
EDIT: What's your budget? I'm sure someone could come up with a good build.
For what you're doing, you might want to look at the X3 720:

my otherone is a X3 8650.....so im not quite sure. I might just buy teh exact same parts.
Core 2 Duo E8400 is the best you could get for that price
the X3 with the board, processor, ram, and hardrive only costs me about 150 bucks, buying a intel would cost tons more. And i will get less preformance....
Phenom I?

A CPU, motherboard, RAM, and hard drive is not an entire computer, and why do you need a secondary?
Well, Im a computer geek. Alright my room is completely packed full of computer shit. On my main, i can be installing some huge ass game. Then i can be surfing the web on my secondary. But i want them both to have supreme preformance. What i dont understand is asus says my mainboard only works with a x2. WTH? It runs a X3, with no issues.....like seriously??? Anyways, on my secondary, i would be listening to music, surfing the web, doing some programming...ect ect

Uh no
It'd be cheaper to upgrade your current computer and use 2 monitors.
Uh no
yea, but installing a game, surfing the web, and what ever will lagg like hell. I have a secondary. But its a old P3 800...that laggs somewhat bad.

uh yea, i prefer AMD there cheaper. And more powerfull. :P
hey guys lets just leave this thread

Actually blind fanboy, AMD have been in the shitter since 2005
They are only now coming out with decent processors to compete with Intel
the fastest AMD processor can only compete with intel's 3rd fastest processor.
Argue all you want fantart
omg omg omg don't make me get CPU charts from 06, 07, 08, 09
[editline]08:26AM[/editline]
It's been 5 years since AMD topped the performance market, wow
http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/processors,6.html
I was posting in favor of Intel.
I know
ok
Just get 2 monitors its easier that way
WOW, im not getting another moniter FFS. I will lagg!! Installing a game, and surfin the web is gona lagg me! using a second monitor is stil going to lagg bcause its on the same machine.
AMD is not better than intel, but often has the best bang/buck, so is better on a budget, no AMD dual can compete with a 8400, but the 550 is much cheaper and is still pretty close. The AMD PII 955 is beaten by some C2Qs but is again, pretty close and is considerably cheaper. AMD also has the wonderful 710/720 tri core processors. AMD also has the black edition processors, which are amazing for overclocking. Sure, intel wins for high end with the core i7, but most people can't afford the chips, or need the power. Also OP should get another monitor for general use, because its just endlessly useful.

You've got a shitty primary computer if you can't install a game and surf the web on two monitors.

read the first fucking post

So upgrade it? It's still working out cheaper to buy another monitor and upgrade your current computer than to build another one.
Mobo and CPU, there's your new monitor.
PSU, RAM, GPU, there's your new CPU for your main computer.
Get an E8400 if you want great performance, if you want budget, get a phenom II 550. (2x 3.2ghz)
If you can afford about 40$ more, get a Phenom II 720 (3x 2.88ghz). Any more money and you should get a PII 955 (4x 3.2ghz).
550 < E8400 < 720 < 955
Or if you fancy a gamble try core unlocking a dual or triple.

Then your computer must suck, Mine has a AMD 6000+ and I even could play Left 4 Dead and Unreal Tornument 3 at the same time, I often watch a video on on screen/music and play games on the other with no fps loss whatsoever :clint:

Yeah my old E7200/9800 GT setup ran two monitors easily while playing TF2/CS/Crysis all at the same time.

CS:S? I thought you can't have 2 source engine games open at the same time?
You've got a shitty primary computer if you can't install a game and surf the web on two monitors.
not really.....I have about 6 gbs of ram, 3 core processor. It runs fine, but the main board is been giving me problems fro awhile. I can use 3 monitors. Because i have a HDMI,DVI,VGA. Altho ill give the monitor thing a try. But idk...
I dont have a DVI adapter and a HDMI tv cable. So yea.
