• Can't play Source games in fullscreen

I used to be able to play Source games perfectly fine in fullscreen mode. Yet now I can't do that at all, when the game starts up and begins loading all is fine. But right after the "loading.." sign stops my screen goes completely dark, showing only but my pointer. Verifying game cache, defragging deleting the folders. All been done, yet no hope. Goddamn windowed mode is annoying...
-sw -noborder in the launch options makes it look like fullscreen for a large number of source games
-sw -noborder in the launch options makes it look like fullscreen for a large number of source games
Thanks, I can us that for now. :D But the point being, I get a much higher fps when in fullscreen. Now that it's randomly gone, I can't enjoy the game as much.
there is so much that goes into this, it would be near impossible for any of us to pinpoint the exact cause without actually sitting down at your computer and troubleshooting the issue. I wouldn't have offered a temporary fix otherwise.
-Delete clientregistry.blob -Update video drivers -Reinstall DirectX -Delete the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Valve/Source registry value (This should reset all graphics settings to default.) If none of those work, there might be some other program causing a conflict. Open task manager, close everything you don't need, and try again.
I'll try to reinstall directx, but what's HKEY_curent_user about? Where can I find it exactly? Deleting clientregistry.blob was actually the first thing I tried. ;) EDIT: Deleted the registry value, now to reinstall directx.
It's a registry value, open up regedit and it should be fairly straightforward.
It's a registry value, open up regedit and it should be fairly straightforward.
Tried it; didn't work. Anyway, how do I go about to re-install direct x?
It would be useful if you posted your os and if you run 32 or 64 bit. Direct X : http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-us/aboutgfw/pages/directx.aspx Did you try re-installing the game?
