Hey Facepunch ever since a couple nights ago I've been getting the BSOD when I'm playing a game. Today I finally read the error and it was an error saying "IRQL not less or equal". I've read a couple places that it's a driver problem and lately I have been getting a driver update message when I start my computer but I can't locate them when I select that option. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Are you overclocking have you reseated your ram is your ram stable is it at the right frequencies and timings and voltages is your graphics cards drivers updated to the most recent versions what are your specs post your temps when playing a game for a few seconds use hardware monitor thanks
Okay I'll see if I can answer all of those. Am I overclocking? No. Have I reset my ram and is it stable? No I haven't and I guess I'd just assume it's stable. Is it at the right frequencies, timings, and voltages? I'm not sure. How would I go about checking? Are my graphics card's drivers updated? I don't know on this one. I get a "Drivers update available message whenever I start my computer but I can't seem to update. I assume they are up to date. How would I check this? What are my specs? These (along with other information that might be important): Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz Memory: 2046MB RAM Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT Driver Name: nvd3dum.dll,nvwgf2um.dll,nvwgf2um.dll Driver Version: 8.16.0011.9062 (English) Post my temps when playing a game for a few seconds? How would I go about checking my temps so I can do this.
hmm How old is that 8800 GT? download hardware monitor http://www.cpuid.com/download/hwmonitor/HWMonitor_114_setup.exe and then post temps (screenshot) while playing games. (or just after)
I had gotten this error before. First time my ram had turned sour. Second time a connector piece on my HDD had been knocked loose. Check your HDD connection spots, make sure everything looks okay. If it does, try running MemTest 86+ for a day and see if its your ram.
The 8800 GT came with my PC which I got about a year and a half ago. When I'm not in a game (Just on Facepunch) my temp is 76 C. It shoots up to 78-80 when in TF2. I also just updated my drivers. Lets see if that makes a difference. I discovered the problem there.
that is a little hot, turn up the fan speed. Although i doubt that's causing the problem, as those temps are okay, but if your card is failing, heat could be intensifying the problem. Download EVGA precision from guru3d (google it). [editline]09:43PM[/editline] and turn the fan speed up
Alright if anything else happens I'll keep you guys updated. I left my computer along with TF2 running and no BSOD. I think uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers could've fixed it.
hopefully!
Just BSOD'd. So I'm going to look into whether or not it is the RAM.
sounds like the ram,
