• Upgrading motherboard and CPU

Hello I believe I am in a need for a new motherboard and a CPU as my motherboard is just a stock Dell one, which is unable to be overclocked. And my CPU is not the greatest. My current specs are: Windows Vista home premium 64-bit Intel core 2 Quad CPU Q8200 @2.33GHz 4.00 GB of RAM Nvidia GTX 560 750W psu 500gb HDD And the motherboard model is Dell Inc 0PP150 (Socket 775) I am new to computer parts and building, but what I thought seemed to be what I am looking for is, http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.693504 Is this good, and will it work with the rest of my parts, and will I need anything else such as a heat sink? Or could you recommend something better. I want to be in the 1-300 dollar price range.
I assume you have DDR2, which wouldn't work with the motherboard, but everything else would. RAM is cheap, though, you could just spend $20 more for 4GB DDR3. That's a great motherboard + CPU combo, too.
So this is all compatible with my current hardware except the ram is what your saying?
Yep. You're going to have to repair or reinstall windows, though, I don't really know how to do the repair part.
How's this ram look? http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231311
get this: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231417 old a dollar more, better, and will match your motherboard
chances are the dell case is BTX, which that motherboard wouldnt work with

Installing a custom motherboard in a Dell case is either impossible due to proprietary mounting hole positions (or proprietary mounts like slide hooks) or extremely difficult because things like the I/O plate holes are punched directly into the case and you can't put in a custom I/O plate. I recommend abandoning the idea of upgrading that machine and build a new one with a new case to avoid inevitable problems with motherboard replacement. You can reuse old parts like the drives, but I recommend against it due to anything Dell selling being complete rubbish.
