it can automatically adjust the ordering of the split screen
Microsoft is finished.
This is really nice, I've had numerous experiences where we've had to switch seats because of the screens being in the wrong sides :v:
That's fucking awesome.
Games still do split-screen?
Games still do split-screen?
Hopefully devs stop being such asses about split screen with fancy features like this.
Holy shit, people still care about split screen? That's great.
Isn't the playstation TV or something capable of showing the whole screen if you wear special glasses while doing splitscreen? I remember hearing/reading bout that but never saw that in action.

I do remember seeing something like that. The demo was like some Semi racing game or something?

Uhh, what the hell, no wonder no games have split screen now a days. How else am I supposed to play games with my poor friends who can't afford a computer. Games like Serious Sam 3 are a godsend.
I'm really glad that they're introducing all of these new ideas and implementing them. Inovation is always the key to progress; if PS4 is progressing rapidly, then hopefully the rest of the gaming industry will see this progress and act upon it.
wow, they actually managed to improve the controler
x86, now this, I think the PS4 is going to be quite a success
Still haven't solved the problem of people screen watching 0/10

Wii U gamepad solves this, one player watches Gamepad, the other watches the TV.

A feature that needs to be in WAY more games. Having coop with that is like next level cool
Still haven't solved the problem of people screen watching 0/10
The new PS eye detects when X is looking at Y's screen, and punishes player X by shocking his hands!
Duh, why do you think it's called a dualshock?
Still haven't solved the problem of people screen watching 0/10
I've used an LG tv before that had a built in feature to solve this, I can't remember what it was called but when activated, it would give both players the entire screen with their portion on display to only them (you had to wear glasses though)

Any 120hertz screen could theoretically pull it off.
Get used to shutter sounds though

you may be wrong here, with 3d support and some play with glasses, you can show one fullscreen to one player and another to the next
Sony trying to innovate with split screen?
FUCK YES!
Holy shit, Sony is actually learning from console mistakes for once.
What's next? they re-introduce OtherOS, although with proper "isolation" between the game OS and OtherOS?
I don't like the speaker on the controller.
Nintendo did it with the Wii and it was irritating when games used the shit quality speaker on the controller.

Well it is optional. Just like on the Wii.
But can it prevent screen watching?
Testing this must have been fun. Four people shuffling from one side of the room to the other like an upright worm in alternating patterns. Or dancing a waltz or something.

The sony tv (and I assume other 3D tv's) allow you to do this http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2011/06/07/a-closer-look-at-the-ps3-3d-tv-split-screen-gaming-redefined/
Which solves all the problems with split screen
Isn't the playstation TV or something capable of showing the whole screen if you wear special glasses while doing splitscreen? I remember hearing/reading bout that but never saw that in action.
Yeah, we messed around with one in my game design class, it was pretty cool
So if you're losing, you can throw your controller across the room in a last-ditch attempt to cause the screens to move and fuck up your friend.
I guess this works

I remember playing halo with a giant cardboard box vertically down the center of a friend's big ol' TV. Sucked that back in the day any hint of widescreen would cause splitscreens to go side by side in awkward vertical boxes
